Great decision. It would have been nonsensical to bring in another temp ‘keeper when Flav and Hayton are fit. I think both are out of contract too in the summer so an opportunity - Kieren especially - to show their stuff.
Is his nickname Flavour? Good decision though the cynic in me thinks the Great Mladen failed to get another signing over the line
Hope Flavell smashes it. About time we gave our own a chance instead of these expensive loans every year for keepers who are no older and not much more experienced.
Interesting fact: it’s actually pronounced Flavell like Flavour. But like Devaney and Hourihane, I’m sure it’ll be said incorrectly throughout his career.
I guess this is a sign that we have given up on the play offs, but let’s face it, we all have! These final games are an ideal opportunity to bring the young players in. I wouldn’t bother playing any loanees or anyone who is leaving in the summer. If we have the power to fetch back the young players we’ve loaned out I’d be doing that too. But the fans need to get behind the kids and not get on their backs if they make mistakes. These games are the chance to get the mistakes out of their system and if we get a couple of kids who then are ready to start next season it’ll both save us a lot of money and will appeal to the fans, as we love it when one of our own players comes through the ranks.
A bit of common sense! From Doug’s tweet, it sounds like it was Hourihane that’s made this decision. Will listen to the interviews later to see what was actually said. Good luck to him.
Sensible decsion, looks to have the attributes of a solid keeper, needs game time, fantastic opportunity for him, good luck young man
Really hope we see some of Nathan James too, really impressed in his little cameos. Honestly, I'd just chuck most the kids on, Bland, Mccann, Jalo (whenever hes first, if he will be soon?), Dyer, maybe even have Wilkinson around the first team again.
I'm not against the young players getting opportunities in a structured way but it will be interesting to see if Connor agrees with you on Saturday, my guess is that he'll be desperate to win that game so I'd be very surprised if it's a team full of kids.
