If we've got to suffer these games against no mark opposition, wouldn't it be a good idea to give them a couple of goals start, because this game is doing my head in!
There's no way of knowing. But what I do know is that following Capello, Allardyce, Hodgson and whoever else we'd had he took us further than we've ever been since 66. We had a squad full of dislikeable arsewipes, arrogant tossers who couldn't care less. He overhauled it, made us care about England, beat Germany in a major tournament with our dicks out. United the squad, broke down boundaries between clubs. He stood up for the players who endured horrific racial abuse. He stood up for Saka, Rashford and Sterling. He wore a waistcoat. He created the Love Train at set pieces when Ar John headed one in the other year in the world cup. But aye, anyone could have done what he did.
Yes he did and please don’t think that my post didn’t appreciate what he did, especially bringing the feel good factor back to the national team. He was the reason we got to two finals…..but weirdly also the reason we lost them. I had a debate on here last summer. Southgate got to the final in 2024 playing awful football. We should have been out against Slovakia but I guess you need an element of luck getting to any final. I know how the feeling would have been media wise if we’d have gone out that day. We didn’t tho. My favourite England team was the Euro 96 one. That team would have won the final if they’d have overcome Germany on pens. I’d wager my house on it.
Agree with Euro 96 - that was my favourite tournament too, alongside Italia 90. Yet Southgate got us further than Robson and Venables did.
I get your point but it's irrelevant. We lost. I'd love to race you up a mountain with a ravenous bear chasing us. If you're happy with second I live to post crap another day. I don't think we're going to agree so I'll leave it there mate .
Kyle Walker - what an insanely good footballer. Unbelievable that his pace hasn't deserted him at the age of 34. We'll properly miss him when he finally retires.
Happy to leave it, but I strongly disagree. If we fail to qualify for the next World Cup, are we all going to say "ah well, just the same as Southgate. They both lost" Have a good evening mate.
Really impressed with Burn. He's a weapon from set pieces. Glad we had Walker covering though because he hasn't got the legs to get back quickly. Might be something Tuchel needs to look at because we don't look to have much pace at the back. If we're playing the press.
Agree with Foden. Jones looked lively earlier on but I feel like he's living in the shadow of Rice and Bellingham. I thought Rashford has been decent.

All these qualifiers seem to go the same way. Teams stick all 11 behind the ball and we pass it around for a bit. I wish some would come and actually attack us. I guess they’d be worried about a possible demolition. These aren’t the games Tuchel will be judged on. It’ll be tournament football.
Albania rarely get hammered. Their group at the Euros was incredibly tough - Italy, Spain, Croatia. Narrow defeats against Italy and Spain, and a very creditable 2-2 draw with Croatia. They've understandably been a bit unambitious tonight, but they're clearly no mugs.
I'd get hammered after drawing 2-2 with Croatia. Maybe if they got hammered now and again they might improve morale and win one?
