Exactly this. Whenever a person in charge throws someone under the bus publicly, it never ends well. Like when Clarke called all the kids useless after we lost a JPT game early in the season. Even if he was right, you can't say that. Although, I would suggest that looking at the numbers in question, Neerav can't find his way around a balance sheet either. Them red numbers are no good mate.
Maybe if he gave a manager a transfer kitty and signed some players that could realistically achieve promotion before slamming the fans? He quotes "balance sheets". The probability is if he'd spent a little more and had a proper stab at promotion those fans berating the board wouldn't. Even if we failed at promotion and he came out and said we've tried and failed resulting in us cutting our cloth accordingly the fans would understand. He's said bugger all. All season. Then has a pop at the fans. It doesn't surprise me though.
Which football club in league one isn't? How much do you think the likes of Birmingham Wycombe Rotherham Huddersfield Wrexham have all lost? Not to mention others, didn't someone once say the easiest way to become a millionaire is be a billionaire and buy a football club. We're a working class town with a loyal fanbase of 9k a week he was never going to make money owning us, but greedy ******* he isn't so he has a right to defend himself imo.
It might sound daft but this chant and the rest of the abuse does as much to turn me off the club as the situation on the pitch. Calling a guy who’s put millions into the club greedy, incredible.
Makes no difference to fan reaction though. Because if he did balance the books we'd already be getting relegated, then I can only imagine the fan abuse. Football, you're either incredibly lucky, or incredibly stupid. People cite Bournemouth as though they didnt lose 100m getting to the premier league. It is nigh on impossible to achieve something in football without being in the red. Unless we get a John Stones every season.
I don't think they are taking money out, but I do believe they haven't much idea of how to run a football club and what it takes to make a good team
That's fine though to say mate. They have been incompetent. No question. First season they got it almost perfectly with Duff. The signings, the management, everything. However, since then, it's gradually got worse. But they've ALWAYS pumped money in to keep us going.
It’s a very small minority that has sung that song mate. Fair play to him and his family for funding the club, he does need to learn how to get the fans on his side however if selling season tickets is a priority for him, who knows maybe he ain’t bothered?
Agree with what you say to a degree but if he can’t see that the chants are from a very small minority then he needs go to Specsavers mate.....he knows it’s a very small portion of fan base of that I am sure
For me he's said nothing wrong whatsoever. He's answered questions and commented on them as genuinely as I think he could. And he's right to say some fans have no frickin idea about balance sheets. Some fans are moronic Neanderthals and if they slag him off when they get their knuckles off the floor its they that should be slagged off and ridiculed not him. I'd do the same if I was the owner. They need to understand, financially that the club is being supported now, not asset-stripped. The fact that he's made bad decisions is not relevant in this context. He's been open and honest. His heart is in the right place in spite of the incompetent running of the club. Good for him.
Maybe I could do teach ins at the the back of the Ponty as part of the prematch entertainment. A new fan zone based around accounting principles.
