I think the balance sheet comment is aimed at posts like this.

He actually sets out the underlying issues quite well in terms of football finance. 97% of clubs making losses, with 3 exceptions in the Premier League.

League One player wage inflation at 41%. The club has a choice of paying it along with everyone else, or refusing to do so and failing to attract/retain players.

There's zero chance that BFC can be profitable under any ownership, so I don't really get the logic as to why they're criticised for making losses, and covering the shortfall with their own funds. That's the only way you can operate in football currently.

Perhaps they could reduce the losses to some extent, but where does everyone draw the line at what the 'right' amount of loss they should be making which absolves them from criticism?

Where there is room for (considerable) criticism is with regard to the quality of the financial decisions they're making. They could be investing those funds in a far more effective way than they are currently to make us more competitive. That's where my frustration lies, rather than with the news that they're making losses in an industry which pretty much dictates that it's impossible to do otherwise.

Me neither, but I'm a big Jessie, I actually like what he's said. I wouldn't have advised it, but seeing it in black and white, I think it's the right call.

Those on here who are making this whole issue about the daft “greedy ********” chant need to give their head a wobble. That’s not the issue - greedy has two syllables, incompetent has four. So the greater issue doesn’t quite fit the lyric.

The issue here is a simpler one. Do fans believe the current ownership have the vision, the nous and the wherewithal to take the Club forward. Do they think the way in which the footballing side is structured is fit for purpose?

On the basis of ‘judge us by our actions’ things are looking a bit thin for the Owners. On the plus side, fair play for coming out of his shell and fronting up more often.

I think bringing in standing is more an attempt to drag the Club into the 21 century and give the supporters a choice of whether to boo in their seats or while standing up.

It's not going to sell season tickets that article. Lose them maybe.

Large amounts, I don’t disagree with. Clearly he’s trying to tidy up his previous car crash.

He didn’t need to attack as he did in my view. I wouldn’t have advised him to do it and certainly not at season ticket renewal time.

But he’s said it, he can’t undo it and I suspect he’ll get more abuse as a result (which obviously I don’t condone). Whether he can take that or it continues to leak out in his rare interviews, we’ll just have to wait and see.

He did indeed. And was running the club into the ground until Geoff Buckle and Ernest Dennis came along and offered to put money in (which bought Thomas and Evans) but only on on condition that Richards stepped down.

He deflecting the vast majority of fans know the board keep putting money in not taking it out the issue for most is that despite the large cash injections the club is going backwards both on and off the pitch. Each season under his chairmanship the team as finished the season in a lower league position than the previous season.

And I think that all started after his fan base called him greedy too, coincidentally.

Imo if people don’t mean it they shouldn’t sing it, incompetence and greed are totally different things. Whatever change people want out of it they won’t bring the rest of the fans along with them by chanting rubbish.

Indeed, and super-inflation in football finance is very well illustrated by the fact that we got those two strikers for a combined total of £10,000! £7500 for the prolific Barrie Thomas who scored lots of goals for Newcastle, after scoring lots for Scunthorpe.

The club is on the slide - could easily be playing in the national League in the next 5 years, people need someone to blame, and the person in charge seems the obvious choice, they might not have the right reason, but they've got the right person.

Wow thats some assumption considering 2 playoff campaigns and a likely top 10 finish since they took control.
I look at this season as a bump in the road that can happen to any team.

Every season the current Board have been running the club the position of the club at the end of the season as been lower than the season before fact. So this season isn't a bump in the road it's a continuation of a decline that's speeded up this season because the percentage of the squad signed using the current recruitment model as increased to a level where the poor recruitment as had a real effect on results aided by poor recruitment at head coach level..Take DKD and Phillips goals out of the current squad and given the Chairmans last couple of interviews that seems highly likely this summer and the club are in a real mess so yes a relegation next season if the standard of player and coach recruitment doesn't improve massively is a real possibility. Then god only knows what would happen if we ended next season relegated to L2.
