Ok here we go again lol, with another good/bad memory season. :)
This was the season when Danny Wilson took charge, after that waste of space Viv Anderson walked out on us (for Middlesbrough).
And we were hit with the terrible all seater shi*t weren't we, Oakwell was decimated for the season.

Remember when we played Newcastle in the Lg Cup.
Neil Redders scored a cracker for us there in the first game, but as usual, Andy Cole scored against us in both legs. :(

And remember when we had Aston Villingham at home in January, in the Fa cup 3rd round.
It was a very disappointing performance on the day, against a very good team.

And do we remember the game at Middlesbrough getting abandoned!, in the January new year, because of frozen conditions.

And John Hendrie was a 'Brough player then, in those days.

I used to stand on the West Stand terrace behind the home dug-out in those days. The one thing that stood out about Danny Wilson was him shouting “Pass it” to whoever had the ball. Then to whoever received it he shouted to the do the same again “Pass it”. Over and over throughout the match. Every match. He wanted every player to want the ball and then find a man and move in to another position to receive it back. If a player didn’t want the ball, they got a bollocking. Great manager.

It's a shame that he chose to do what he did, when he did!!. :(

Remember when we were still in the Play off race, at the end of the season.
And the little lad Martin Bullock made a name for himself, he was an absolute whizz wasn't he!. :D

Why was our Oakwell stadium f*ked over that season, by the Efl ?.
Compared to loads of other teams who were allowed to keep their really scrappy standing areas, then.

Because they’d either recently been promoted from the league below and were ‘exempt’ from the immediate implementations of all seater stadia rule following the Justice Taylor Report, or they were ‘intending to ‘ move to a new stadium and again were exempt from the immediate implementations of the report. Some clubs took the ‘piss’ initially but eventually succumbed to the report. The ruling was all clubs in the top 2 leagues had to be all seater stadiums by a certain date

That was the season when Brendan scored a brace and we beat Sheff Utd. As a teenager, with Blades schoolmates, my favourite player grabbing both goals made for a good week at school.

Payton and Liddell worked so well together that year.

I remember going away to Notts County and Danny scored a beauty. Their manager was sacked afterwards, was it Kendall? Again, Wednesday got smashed by the other side of Nottingham 7-1 the same day, and even more of my mates were Owls so that was lovely too.

Only saw a few home games that season, cos I’d moved to Brighton. As an A&E nurse, I didn’t get many Saturdays off, and as a nurse, I couldn’t afford the train. It took forever to get home on the National Express. 2 and 3/4 hours just to get from Brighton to London for starters. I came up for 2 Tuesday night games, against Arsenal and Burnley. Took me all day. Tuesday to get up here and all day Wednesday to get home. Eventually, something had to give, and it was living by the sea. Moving up to London made getting up to Oakwell so much easier.

Of course, a couple of years later and we got promoted to the Premiership and something else had to give, and that was my NHS career, as I was fed up with not getting Saturdays off! Fastforward a decade, and with a new child, the missus told me I couldn’t renew my season ticket if we stayed in London. The following Monday I was in our MD’s office asking to be transferred to the Leeds office. That stupid football club accounts for a couple of my life changes and a couple of my career changes. Although the way we’ve been playing at home this season I’ve been thinking of moving back to Brighton…

I can remember going down to Molineux at Easter time in 95 and watch us batter Wolves 0-0. Martin Bullock ran them ragged but we couldn’t get the ball in the net.

Yeah....I remember going to that game. We nearly lost it too when Wolves were awarded a pen in injury time but Dave Watson saved it.
Oh for someone like Bullock now to dribble past defenders. Modern day football doesn’t encourage that type of player anymore……sadly.

We finished sixth that season and missed out on a play off place cos they were reducing the number of teams in the premier.
