As a few others have said above, we're a better team when Watters plays unfortunately he lacks composure in front of goal.

I like Humphry's but he's a bit of a show pony and a luxury I don't feel we can currently afford especially if he's not scoring. He's not the most mobile, often gives the ball away in dangerous positions and he's doesn't appear interested when we don't have the ball. A little like McAtee last year - capable of the majestic but generally flattering to deceive.

Humphrys by a distance for me, because I'm not counting DKD as a striker, even though he's on the list.

I get the comments from those supporting Watters, but the overwhelming weakness in his game is his ability to put away chances, which is the fundamental role he's supposed to play. Humprhys is far better in that regard.

DKD is the biggest goal threat we actually carry, but he's an attacking midfielder, as far as I'm concerned.

Voted Humphrey’s but if Killip had been there I’d have chosen him

Just reading other threads, does anybody want to change their vote?

I've been searching for this thread for a while. It made me laugh out loud when Humphrys was getting the most votes.

The best player in the list is DKD. The best striker is Watters. Even if you don't rate Watters, the best striker is Watters because the only alternative is Cosgrove.

Indeed, it was a flawed poll - that's on me - but nonetheless I think it highlights how much sentiment around Humphrys has changed in a relatively short time.

I could see why you did it. They've all been played as sort of proxy strikers. My main concern was how many votes Humphrys received. IMHO his poor performances and terrible application started long before January. I thought he was a shocking player for months. Irony now is that I'm calling this out after one of his better performances and a sub appearance against his old club which was the first time I actually saw him try.

Just looking at when it was posted, we had just come off the back of 4 straight wins & a defeat at Bristol in which we’d created enough chances to win 3 games. The mood was totally different, so it could be that we’re a lot more forgiving when we’re winning games?

We had. And it was the first time all season we'd got Watters fit who started all those games and helped transform the team. Not because he's brilliant or anything, I like him but I know he's not brilliant, but he is a striker and he knows how to play as a striker and he works hard. We'd finally relegated the useless Humphrys to the bench and this poll came out with Humphrys as the best striker. Best indication I've ever seen that this BBS really has no idea what they're talking about.

Aye, but Watters had just missed a few chances at Bristol, so maybe it was a vote for anyone bar him. Not quite sure why DKD wouldn’t be most peoples first choice in that list though tbh. Striker he’s technically not, but best goalscorer he is by some margin.

Probably because he wasn't initially an option, for that reason. I set the poll up with the players listed on the club site as first team forwards and then added others on request, hence Pines et al.

"Interestingly", I just checked back on the squad page on the official site and DKD IS now listed under forwards, as "Second Striker".

Humphrys is miles better than Watters.
