Unlike some other players, his recent performances have illustrated why we signed him. It's arguably simply the case that Hourihane can inspire him to show his true potential, whereas Clarke couldn't.
Is it playing better for the new guy or the fact he's getting more starts. The amount of time he was playing second fiddle may have affected him. I see him no more no less putting the effort in than most have done at times. We gave up the backwards sideways crap in the second half against Exeter and yesterday against brum. Giving the forward/s more of the ball. A new contract for me and its in our favour.
that or he realises it’s the business end of the season and if we aren’t renewing his deal he needs to earn a new one somewhere else. A professional player shouldn’t need motivating tbh.we signed him unfit and he followed the narrative that Wigan fans said that keep him motivated his hit and miss. This sort of feels a little like peoples perception changing on Cosgrove last season after the play off game.
Cosgrove's astonishing display at Bolton was a complete surprise and remains a mystery. He never produced anything like that level in any other game that I saw. Humphrys, on the other hand, clearly has a fair degree of talent. He's a far better dribbler than Cosgrove, he's faster, he's far stronger and tougher and he's a better finisher.
Unless he’s carried an injury for a while & still tried to play through the pain then I want us to release him. He showed he had ability early in the season but for me there was a definite lack of effort for a few months up until the last couple of games. He couldn’t even be bothered to run towards the back post when crosses were coming in. He was just hanging back outside of the area. He would never get a goal like John Lewis did the other week as he wouldn’t make the run.
All of those out of contract barring Flavell will surely be released. The club keeps telling you it’s skint, haemorrhaging money.
But we can't afford to be narrow minded like that. Although admittedly I've thought the same, about getting rid of the deadwood etc. Some of our loan players might have improved, and even some of our current players. So if there's a chance that a new boss might get them improving, we've got to look into it.
Is it really that bad ?, ohh dear. I still think though that we've got to do the clean slate thing, and give everybody a chance. And then hopefully a new boss will get to see who should go, and who should stay.
Some are easily pleased. Seems a real fans favourite with some his face definitely fits. I remember Rotherham away he might aswell have come sat with me then got took off after having no impact and had his name sang. The mind boggles.
