    Okay it's a unrealistic one

Rumours are Blackburn are considering sacking Valerien Ismael at EOS and replacing him with Wayne Rooney

    Ismael to Return haha

Not for me. Astonishing season that, for any number of reasons, but the football was a bit one-dimensional towards the end, and we got found out. He chanced on a squad that would run themselves to water week-in, week-out and could put his shock & awe football into action. As his subsequent appointments have proved, lightning rarely strikes twice.

I’d be more concerned if I was a Blackburn fan that they are replacing him with Rooney

I adore Val. But that was a one-off period I feel and very difficult to replicate again.

Some things, you just enjoy for what they were, when they were.

Follow Rotherham and announce Conor asap. Let’s crack on with the rebuild.

Couldn't agree more Andy appoint CH
Then allow the new broom to do a clean sweep
Move on a few and bring some more of the academy lads through let's see that battling Barnsley shine once again

Wouldn't be against Conor, he loves the club, his hard work has been evident and his hunger is unquestionable.
If this was to happen though I'd like to see a strong assistant by his side, who that is I've no idea, someone in the big Eric mould, but them types are a rare breed

I wonder if he has someone in mind who he would like as Assistant?

I agree with this assuming last weekends improvements are replicated for the remaining games.

Completely agree. Which is why we need to separate Conor the player from Conor the coach.

The board has got to decide what they want to do. I'd like conor to get the job, but the board need to give him the tools to work with. Poor recruitment will end up with conor out of the door, and back to square one

Agreed mate, another advantage Conor gives is he'll know the players and he'll know who he wants to keep which means we're not playing catchup pre season.
I felt last weekend he put a marker down and sent a clear message in his post match interview "I want to play with wingers and excite the fans"
Just think I strong NO:2 would help our massively.

First thing he did was bring Benson into the team, it will be interesting to see if he wants to keep him for next season.
Unfortunately I think we will always be playing catch-up due to our last minute transfer activity, no doubt we'll get told that it's going to be different this window though.
Good luck to Conor if he gets the job, he certainly seems to have a hunger for it.

Need to be able to win against the battling, in your face, high tempo/press thug teams which are the bread and butter of this division.

Tend do do well against open attacking teams that play football, but that won't get you in the top six for this division unless you can also deal with the above.

I said I’d like Conor as head coach the moment the role became available. I’ve outlined why I feel that way on previous occasions. And his playing career is certainly part of that reasoning. As in, he was uber professional, a natural leader, people followed him and he went from the first to the fourth tier and back again, which says a lot for his work ethic and attitude.

The fact he knows the club, has relationships with other staff still here and of course, with the fanbase, that’s all taken into account too. I think it’s important that the club reconnects with its supporters. There seems to have been a failure on that part, particularly in the last 12 months. Having a young head coach with clear links and a positive BFC history can only be a good thing. I think it worked for Heckingbottom in a similar vein.

I’ve other reasons, that I’ve explained previously, but in terms of his playing days, those are the bits and pieces I took into consideration when landing on him as my choice for the new coach. So whilst I appreciate the sentiment of your separation suggestion, it’s all that most of us have to go on, as well as the last month or so since he’s stepped up.

Is there a romantic side to it too? Of course. But that’s just a bonus.

Oh I can't fault your attitude, and I totally get where you're coming from. Saturday was the first time it really came together for him, after a number of horrendous performances and results

I was just questioning why we have to leave the memories alone for some things, but not others.

We don’t. People are free to feel, think and do as they please presuming it’s not hurting anyone else.

I responded to a suggestion of Big Val returning. Who I have many times over announced as my favourite manager. I loved that campaign. I just don’t believe you can replicate it. It was a very unique period with a brutally different level of expectation. So I prefer to have those memories, that season and treasure it fondly. Rather than remaking it.

I don’t think it’s a similar case in terms of Conor. He isn’t a previous head coach. He played here. Led us to promotion from this division previously. He’s been part of the most recent coaching setup. It’s very similar to the Heckingbottom journey as I said earlier. Who Conor played under in that promotion campaign. That’s a part of my desire for him to get the gig, definitely. Like I say, there’s a romance to it.

The memories of Conor as a player will be there regardless. I’d like to see new ones made, with him in the dugout hopefully replicating Hecky.

And at the end of the day, this is only the ramblings of one bloke. Me. Who was as connected to the club as could be and has - over time - become disengaged. So my opinion is only that. I wouldn’t dare tell others how to think or feel. I just want to fall back in love with it all and feel like there’s a plan, something to hold onto. For me, appointing Conor would help me with that. I’m selfish if nothing else!
