Flavell might have some promise but he’s nowhere near ready for the first team. He’s looked very poor today.
Yep, we’re getting outplayed all over the pitch. But I’m not sure any of the back four should actually call themselves footballers.
Just in case we all thought like the chairman does that everything in the Oakwell garden is now rosey the players bring us a reality check. The issues that were there under Clarke are still there under CH, when we are put under pressure we fold and concede goals unless the opposition are having an off day in front of goal.
Don't think its the manager who will sell tickets mate, it’s the retained list and recruitment that would do most
He could, say, substitute his wide players who were blowing out of their arses in one case and absolutely shi.te in the other before they cost us? He didn’t. He could perhaps not have us defending so high up the field, leaving acres of space in behind when the whole back four has as much pace as me. He didn’t do that either. He even could have recognised that the academy midfield player was struggling with the pace of the game at right back and brought on one of the three other right backs he had on the bench for him whilst we were a goal or two up. But guess what? He didn’t. Pretty boy looks, being a good player for us in another lifetime, and a sexy Cork accent don’t excuse him from basic coaching errors. He’s made plenty of those today, as many as those in grey shirts. As things stand he’ll have achieved five points in seven games in charge. One win in those seven. Looking like snatching defeat today from both 2-0 and 3-1 up. Two year deal.
Only we could go from 3-1 up with 22 minutes left to 4-3 down with 16 minutes left. Apparently next season the West Stand is to be re-named the Foinavon stand in recognition of today.
Just my opinion but if anyone pulls the trigger on a season ticket before they see who's shown the door and some quality arrivals are here early in the summer window want their heads testing.
Probably an unpopular view but I think Bland and Flavell have been 2 of the 3 weakest for us today - the other being McCarthy.
Unfortunately all the goodwill in the world towards CH doesn't alter the fact we have no defence and the bloke tasked to do the recruiting would be better suited in that role at McDonald's.
Well at least we can take some positives from today, thats another game over and we only have 3 games left to play.
I think he has to take his fair share of blame today some of the shots have crawled past him, plus his positions has been questionable. He’s got lots of potential but he looks way too vulnerable
Yes, Bland ought to have been subbed after an hour. Struggled most of game and he was on a yellow from early on.
This has no bearing on Hourihanes appointment, it’s irrelevant to be honest. The fact still stands that this squad is atrocious. It’s got some good individual quality in it, but collectively in all areas of the pitch we are a shambles, & ultimately that’s down to Sormaz & the recruitment team. All of them need to be sacked. It’s inevitable offers will come in for DKD & Phillips. And I would release ALL out of contract players, & look to offload most of the others, we need a hard reset & a proper rebuild akin to Rotherham last summer. The squad needs stripping to the bare bones. The sooner we get rid of some of these losers the better.
