Should have been diving for the second with his hands rather than his feet.

I honestly struggle to see this viewpoint.

Why? Because we’ve looked less shackled?

Well we’ve also looked worse - if that were possible - defensively.

He’s won one in seven. Got five points in seven games. It’s relegation form.

And if you think they are going to make quality signings in summer with Neerav Parekh seeing nothing wrong and Mladen Sormaz driving recruitment, then I have some magic beans that you might be interested in.

Conor learnt his substitution tactics from Darrell. We need a goal, Humphreys goes off injured, and he brings a defender on. Why not like for like with Lewis. He may not be great, but he's shown touches and commitment in his few cameos. Then, all further changes are midfielders, or defenders played up front.

It's going to be an interesting learning curve.

Humps looks miles better for one. As does Connell

We look to have organisation going forward, not just kicking it up and hoping. Can pass a ball and the team looks interested.

If you think it's worse and you prefer Clarke and what he was doing, that's fine. That's your opinion. I'm just going off my opinion and what I'm seeing. I'd rather watch what I've seen in the games vs Bolton and Leyton Orient over the dross I saw every game before under Clarke.

I honestly believe that our midfield is a bigger problem than the defence. After the first 25 minutes, which we absolutely dominated, Russell and Phillips totally disappeared. We are crying out for a Gwyn Thomas- type character; someone with genuine character.

Nothing we haven’t seen already this season. When the going gets tough, too many players quit. The lack of willingness to get back and defend was shameful. Phillips and Russell were pathetic. Not tracking runners. Connell collapsed in terms of form second half, but he grafted at least. As for McCarthy (really, really bad) and Earl, it was like having traffic cones defend that side of defence. And I felt both Humphrys and Jalo massively dropped off second half. If games lasted 45 minutes I’m sure we’d be fine. But they don’t. And I’ve never seen a worse football team (BFC or otherwise) in the second half of games. Inevitable capitulation.

I’ll credit the opposition though. I always do. They stopped trying to play after half time. Went direct. Scrapped and fought for everything. And it worked for them. Obviously, they’ve the playoffs to try and reach. And good luck to them. They’ve a smaller budget than us and beaten us twice, scoring eight times.
They finished 11th last year. They gave their coach time. It’s paying off.

Big, big job for Hourihane. I’m happy he’s got the gig and believe he’ll turn out to be a good coach. It’s a fresh start once this horrendous campaign finishes. But there really needs to be an understanding (from everyone) that this isn’t a short term thing. If any fans think promotion is the goal next season, they aren’t paying attention.

I’m off to enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend. I hope you all manage to do the same!

A defense that can’t press, tackle, see a threat, be in position…. Oh and defend. Doesn’t matter how good our midfield is if we’re giving away / goals a game.

If Flavell is the answer, I’m not sure what the question is. Granted he’s young and has been dropped in it a bit, but he seemed to lack confidence. That said, behind THAT defence, I’m not surprised

Bland, did ok, especially as he’s actually a right back. Should have been subbed earlier as he’d clearly tired.
    Roberts. Ok. Keep.
Earl i thought was good and unlucky when he deflected that goal instead of a clearance. Keep
McCarthy. Slow and useless. Get rid quick.

Russell was ok, ran about a lot. Some promise. Keep if we can
Phillips ok, but didn’t do too much for me. Keep if we can.
Connell. Invisible again. Sorry, but he has to go.
Jalo just can’t do the simple stuff. Keep but needs a lot of work.

Dkd and Humps need to keep. We’ve seen more from them in last few games than we did the last 10 games

Lembikisa. Send him back now. I’d rather we played kids from the academy. Waste of a shirt.
Cotter. Really should have come on for Bland earlier and played at right back.
O’Keefe. Please don’t let him play for us ever again.
Benson. Sadly, I think he’ll be kept for another year on the physios bench.

I’m happy with Conor getting the job and hope he gets the backing from the board to bring in some defenders
Literally if we could stop conceding so many goals, I feel the confidence would return to midfield

But how good is our midfield? Defensively non existent second half!

Perhaps so. But I have always believed that the key to success is in midfield. As potentially talented as Adam Phillips is, he might have a better chance of fulfilling it if he didn’t spend half his time berating his teammates. Particularly given his tendency to totally disappear. As for Russell, very decent player given time and space; less than ordinary if not.

Just tell Mladen we still need a striker, he'll find a few wingers, I'm sure.

Opinions, eh? ;) I thought Connell was the only one out of that quartet who came out of the game with any kind of credit.

I think i could get it if i dive and i'm 65, he's more chance with his hands, maybe it's the coaching as he goes with his feet very often.
