I'm taking a liberty here in describing what I believe Conor's full time team talk will/should have been today, bearing in mind the experience he's had in the game and the levels he's played at and the people he's been coached by at club and international level: "For 20 minutes it was what we've been working towards. For the remaining 70 minutes you've let me down, you've let the fans down and you've let yourselves down. If you're not hurting the way I'm hurting right now you won't be at this club next season. We've set a minimum benchmark by going 2 0 up today, playing the kind of football I demand of you. For those of you who are incapable of playing at that level consistently, you won't be here next season. I have history with this club and its fans and I know what they expect. They don't expect a Barnsley team to surrender. Ever. The players who pull on that shirt next season will never, ever give less than 100%. in any game, if they do, they will be gone. With my team, we will bring discipline, craft and positivity to our performances on the training ground and on match days. Every day. I will not forgive any player who "folds" in the way we did today. Between now and Kick off on Monday I'll be meeting with each one of you personally to let you know where you've let the club and the fans down today. You'll also be advised of what my expectations are of you while you work with and for me."
I hope your right there, and just out of interest, I wonder what Conor's really like when he's going apesh*it at them in the dressing room lol. He's got the gig now then, and I suppose it doesnt matter now whether we think he should have got it, or not. The pressure is on this lot to support him now, and I mean realistically. He knows we can't or won't spend millions, which is fair enough. But I'm sure he's got some decent quality player targets in mind at least.
I hope he asked them why all the crazy attention to detail and improvements from day one weren't implemented..
So after the bollocking we have no players for the next game ? IMHO think CH will sort it on the training ground If it was me they would be in today and tomorrow to get the initial bollocking into them another big test this one of CH coaching ability COYR
My guess is he's not the "going apeshit" type. I reckon he's far more like those teachers at school who were universally loved and respected because they knew their subject inside-out and treated you as an equal in class, but didn't take any crap. The type that never had to raise their voice, because on the rare occasions they did have to put you back in line, you immediately felt so ashamed for letting them down that you made sure it never happened again. Conor comes across as exactly that type of bloke.
Knowing how this team capitulate I would rather know what was said at half time and during the game from the side lines whilst the goals were totting up.
His body-language once the goals started flowing was abject disbelief and he looked shell-shocked tbh.
