Or it's going to likely be second worst season since 1978/79.... 79/80 - 11th in 3rd tier 62 points (when calculated as 3 points for a win) 03/04 - 12th in 3rd tier 62 points (-4 GD) 04/05 - 13th in 3rd tier 61 points (+5 GD) 14/15 - 11th in 3rd tier 62 points (+1 GD) Unless we get 4 points likely to be 13th at best, and even with 4 would have a negative GD so statistically worse than 04/05. Only the admin season of 02/03 worse in nearly 50 years. Happy days eh?
Which fuels some optimism. Shortly after every one of those seasons we've had a legendary one. Arrival of Clarke/Hunter in 79 Play Off win 05/06 Play Off and Cup wins 15/16
It just goes to show how well we've done over the yrs, 2 bad seasons in 20yrs, chins up, things will get better, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
I'm guessing that the Peter Doyle season was the worst one? (Isiah rankin etc) Sorry just re read the OP and that was the worst season.
19th and 52 points. I can see 4 points tbh- draw Monday, beat Shrewsbury (already down, presumably playing the kids) and lose at Reading.
Well said mate, especially considering we're probably one of few clubs who haven't broken the bank. Well, we have technically, but we havent spaffed millions and millions on players, not paid their wages, etc etc.
That has made me smile. ‘We haven’t broken the bank…apart from when the club went bust!! The current business model has the club close to £10m pa operating losses. Our financial position is just about as precarious as the league position.
Perfect summary of the stewardship of these clowns, not football people not even business people, sooner we’re shut the better.
Can’t believe that this will be our second worst season in 46 years. Only the admin season saw us get less points. Well done all, truly a disgrace. The worst thing of all is that the clown who has overseen it will still keep his job.
We are a average L1 club now with as much chance of going lower as higher than our current position. We've failed to adjust after relegation. On a downward spiral since losing at Wembley to our neighbours from wadsley bridge Woeful recruitment and no saleable assets from the academy is taking its toll. While more backroom staff, coaches and even a ladies team have been added, will all be a drain. With the main burden the academy. We must this summer trim our cloth and make decisions that some won't like. We must bite the bullet.. All out of contract staff must be released..backroom staff, media coaching and recruitment teams will need to be trimmed. We act like we are top end championship when we aren't Conor as a hell of a rebuild to do.. even free transfers cost wages. Neerav has said sales,.. there's only DKD worth owt so id expect him to go to fund incomings. Rollercoaster of a summer ahead. Itrust Conor to get it right and to have already had the conversation about this summers plans and needs. This clubs needs to be leaner to survive.
We do need to try and keep DKD if at all possible but as been said before he's our only saleable asset really so will be sold this summer but I hope they don't accept the first derisory offer that comes in just to get some money in the bank.
