Huddersfield Town have sacked sporting director Mark Cartwright after less than two years in the role.
https://www.htafc.com/news/2025/april/18/club-statement--mark-cartwright/ He has been shocking for them. Imagine being told by MLH he wants a target man in the January transfer window for a promotion push and giving them a couple of short guys with barely played all season Joe Taylor and already out of form before signing Dion Charles.
Can't be as bad as telling your sporting director that you want a striker and all you get is an unemployed left winger and a right winger from the french 43rd division
Their fans will be happy, they’ve been demanding that for ages. Pity we can’t announce same for Sormaz.
He’s here to stay, sadly. Talks about giving Conor tools to do his job. Got no faith he will whatsoever.
Unfortunately the board members haven't got a clue, Neerav and the others are obviously struggling to run a football club and haven't recruited the right people to help themselves. But, whilst ever they keep putting money in we are stuck with the shambles that is the BFC Board. Amateurs playing at football management.
Some key wording in their statement for me is 'allow us to head into the 25/26 season with renewed belief" I don't think there's much belief that Mladen will get it right, should have gone when Clarke went, it's been a disasterous appointment the pressure will just crank up with every defeat.
I hear that M'lad is already phoning around the French and Belgian Fourth Division clubs lol. Get ready for some superb signings, for Connor's one season in charge.
Mark Cartwright - over 100 appearances for Brighton, Halifax and Wrexham. Mladen Sormez - FIFA 98 to FIFA 22 on PS1, PS2, XBox 360 and Xbox X.
All depends on the expectation levels, Conor has already spoke about getting the club challenging again but I got the impression Neerav was trying to gently lower these without saying it. We keep coming out with the P word to flog tickets but recruitment hasn't reflected it so far He'll need time and backing
I’m not really a Mladen fan. His signings - whilst some have been cracking, some appear to be just Bizaare. (DKD & Nawalki good / Lambretta & Rodrigues poor). However, despite me not being a fan, I wholeheartedly accept that I don’t know the budget constraints and how many genuinely good players we were close to signing but couldn’t for no fault of our own. I also think the comms from him/the club on it all, if improved, may have helped matters, but accept he may have no say in that. i.e if Rodrigues was explained as development player who we’ll look at for long term prospects rather than now. Jon Lewis - who is a pacey winger who will help drive us forward in the final 3rd etc, but not a striker. So whilst he doesn’t have many fans, as a person, I do feel Mladen does take some pellets at times and can’t really defend himself without probably losing his job. So I do have empathy with him - and we all know money is tight. I think most SDs have the same problem. There’s probably plenty of good chat you could have with them over a beer or two and you’d gain a better insight, but that’s not going to happen.
