that CH might actually turn out decent?

We've been improving (slowly, I'll grant you), but I feel he can actually see what's wrong with the team/squad and what to ask of players to correct it.

I just think that he was a winner as a player with a drive to be the absolute best he possibly could.
Can see the same determination to succeed as a head coach too.
Whether he does it with us or not remains to be seen, might be too early and he's likely not to get the backing he needs or the time.

He's been there and done it as a player and that means a lot.

Well done for being optimistic after yesterday’s offering, two good goals from two sides who looked every inch mid table League 1 , I’d take their No 7 though

All will depend on recruitment, 1st September will be an indication of our intent.
Give him the correct support, stop the noise upstairs and let him crack on, if those 2 things happen he's got every chance.

I really hope so, he knows what successful teams/clubs look like and I can see what he’s trying to do. He also understands the club and understands what the fans want to see. The bigger question mark for me is whether he’s supported adequately to implement what’s required. If he is I think he’s a good chance of being successful, if he isn’t then we’ll be back here in 12 months.

I think there is no doubt at all CH will forge a great career as a coach.
It's whether he can do so under the umbrella of Mladen Sormaz that is the question for us, as Barnsley fans.

I think he will come good, one sure advantage is that he knows the club and the players , so there won't be that 'getting the feel of things' period that has hampered us so much recently he's already talking about the 'reset' that's needed at the club.

From some of his comments I believe he’s going to have a big say in the recruitment going forward

Hope so. Precious little to be excited about thus far is the worry.

I think he's got the potential to do very well. However, asking him to build a decent side out of the current squad is like handing me a pair of belt drive record players and some headphones from Poundland, and expecting me to craft a seamlessly mixed techno set. With a box full of Bros records.

I hope so...like others have stated depends on recruitment.
I would also add managing our expectations. I for one don't see us challenging top 6 next year because of what we have seen with this squad, so like this season I see tenth more realistic, as he begins his blueprint

My feeling is whether he's a good head coach or not will make little difference. There are so many problems above him it will prove insurmountable for any coach.

If you're given an imbalanced squad of players that are not good enough then you can't make a good side. It becomes impossible, when those above believe, or at least claim, that the squad is talented when it clearly is not.

You can't really sell that to new signings though. Well you can but you won't be signing the players with the right drive and attitude. "Oh it's o.k because we're in transition, building slowly and we want players to float about for nine months and finish tenth".

I think he’ll go on to have a good career as a head coach, just not with us.

I think CH is in a position to build more quickly this summer because he's already assessed the squad and worked with the players under Clarke. The build could be quicker than we think.
