Heartbreaking for a guy who has spent most of his life putting his heart and soul into the community. Hope they catch the culprits
Awful they’ve had vandalism to floodlights in the past. On another note they still rely on weighing in aluminium cans to survive, I’ve been crushing mine and taking them periodically since the lockdown. If the gates are locked they are happy for bags to be tossed over the fence/gate, they also require tonne bags to put them in.
By all accounts it was in a big safe locked in the office. They’ve just stolen the safe which is why police reckon it’s a coordinated theft cos it would have took at least 4 people to get it out.
Pete is one of life’s good guys. I made it a priority to engage with them, Worsbrough, Pen1stone and others over the years. Did a number of visits, interviews etc and I know Bobby used to make sure the 21s played down there every summer. Disgraceful to read this, and whilst he can’t regain what’s on the laptop you’d like to think the community could set up something to help plug the financial hole.
There’s already a JustGiving Crowdfunding page set up for anyone to donate If you can afford to,it’s got to be worth popping a fiver in to help them out
I’d like to think Barnsley fc could send them a token £5k, surely? I’ll donate to the crowd fund regardless.
Can anyone post a link to the just giving page? I'll gladly chip in. This sort of thing just destroys your faith in humanity.
It’s in the OP mate https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/stacey-goodlad-1?utm_medium=CR&utm_source=CL
Well said YT. I've been down to watch the Rec probably only a dozen or so times over the years but it's a great community hub and does so much for kids in the local area. Just donated and anyone who can please consider doing the same.
Thanks everyone who has donated or shared the just giving. My lad plays for the u14s and there's a real pathway for kids to play all their life at one club all the way up to a over 45s team. If you've nothing on tomorrow evening the u14s are playing Hillsborough Pumas in a battle for 2nd place (and promotion) in the Sheffield and District Junior League D. Winner finishes 2nd and goes up to division C. It would be back to back promotions for us if we manage it.
I’ve shared the link with someone I still talk to at BFC, be nice if they all chipped in. It’s what it’s all about. Community.
