Whilst I understand the bewilderment of these who didn't want him to be appointed, I've been right behind his appointment since before he wad appointed. Quite rightly those who didn't want him might say his record so far has been abysmal, but, hopefully today's performance might start to change that thinking. Today, his team showed what is possible with the right management and support behind them. Of course we need a major clear out, but he knows that also. We have a guy in charge who has played at the highest level and who seems determined to apply the same standards at Oakwell. I don't think he's a Billy bullshittet and he genuinely seems to have the best interests of our club at heart. He also appears to be very determined and task focused. Together with many others I'm really enthused and looking forward to the close season and next season. We need to be patient. Well done Conor and good luck with the much needed rebuild.
He has made it public what is wrong at the club, what most of our "10000" regulars have known for some time, if they don't back him now, it proves a point, ,so will they or won't they
I get your sentiment but we lost last week because of the players and needed a total rebuild yet we win today and it's because of Conor. Big summer coming up and he certainly talks about high standards so let's see if he can deliver them.
I never suggested that losing to Shrewsbury was just down to the players CH and his team have to take joint responsibility for that awful performance also, and he knows that. We won today because they were all joined up. Coaching staff and players. The point I'm trying to make (badly) is that today shows what we're capable of if we can find some consistency in applying excellence. They set a high bar today in a difficult atmosphere. I feel fairly certain that that's the bar CH will be wanting to set at every game. Putting it simply, I don't believe he's here to f1uck about.
I hope he gave Lembikisa the biggest fùckin of his life for the "couldn't care less attitude" he gave when they got a corner which led to their 2nd goal. A miniscule bit of effort could have avoided that corner. We want winners to wear the shirt, not lazy fùckers.
Yeah its weird, but I sighed with disappointment when they were allowed that 94th minute goal. And I bet Conor did as well, even though all the hard work had been done, and we'd easily won by then. He's got standards I'm sure, and whether he should even have got the job, is irrelevant now. Its time to bin this disappointing season now and hope this summer onwards, might bring some exciting changes.
Whilst I am willing to give Conor time, even though he would not have been my first choice, I have to ask as the assistant to Clarke did he have these conversations about what is wrong with the team and the set up? If he saw the issues surely he could and should have broached these with Clarke?
We have been scoring goals galore recently against 3 promotion contenders, Leyton Orient Bolton and Reading. But we have been unable to break down relegation candidates who set up to defend. Also giving away an average of 2 goals a game doesn't make life easy. I'm sure Conor can see where we need improving.
Maybe, but I also keep hearing on here that Clarke didn’t take day to day training, so who was responsible for taking that? I am not against Conor having the job, and as a life long Barnsley fan I hope he succeeds, but if he is as strong willed as everyone thinks, surely he should have forced the issue with Clarke? He may have done and got nowhere, we may never know, but surely as assistant he needed to.
I think its indisputable that our general play and performances have steadily improved. The issues have been individual mistakes. We make mistakes and miss sitters, but our actual play has improved over the tepid, drab performances previously
We've won 11 games away from home this season. Conor has won 1 of those. We won 10 games away from home under Clarke. Where were these posts when Clarke won all those games? It's f***ing ridiculous. I've got nowt against Conor Hourihane. I really like the bloke. I'm just sick to death of the complete lack of support our managers have had these last few seasons. I don't mean from those in charge, they're useless, I mean from people who should well know better.
Yeah exactly Jay, and I'm not knocking Conor here either. Im saying I also think its ridiculous how little support both Collins and Clarke got. From the majority of fans who were against them both, pretty much right from the start.
I agree. I know the football was boring, rubbish at times, but even when results were positive people weren't really receiving
And I've also often wondered Frog. This is while we were winning games and in the Play off places. So what would the reaction have been to them both, if we were losing all the time, and actually in the relegation places!!.
As good of a result it was yesterday, I fear that it just feeds the delusion of the simpletons in charge.
Lembiska was for the most part excellent yesterday. Easily his best game for us, at least going forward. Defensively he's a liability.
Yeah that was the most pleasing thing about yesterday.. might keep the wolves for the door and let him actually make a difference over the summer.. You've got no choice anyway, just to sit back and see who comes and who goes.. it won't be till September the full picture is formed If you want a tip from me...take it, or leave it. .lay off social media for a bit over the summer, and recharge your own batteries..
