I’m surprised that so many are surprised about James leaving. He’s only really impressed in a couple of friendlies & was well down the pecking order with Barrett getting the nod ahead of him when we were down to needing our 6th choice centre back a couple of months back. We’ve also gone to a back four so don’t need as many centre backs.
Including the 3 loans going back I make that 25 players moving on. That does seem an extraordinary number, or maybe it's normal and I've just not noticed before. And there may be more if those offered contracts don't accept.
Still at least 5-6 that can go too! Crazy rebuild needed and hopefully the board back Conor and give him time. Same goes to the fans.
We have 6 contracted centre halfs for the start of next season. Roberts Earl MDG Barratt Shepherd Lopata Very over stocked put of the 6 surely Lopata and Shepherd should be given an opportunity to start the season with us.
Still some utter ***** in that squad. I said months ago it could take until at least summer 2026 to sort things out. It will depend on if we can offload any of those still under contract such as MDG, O'Keefe and big bad Barry!
Goes to show with all the releases and loans going back just how bloated our squad still is. We need to try and replace a dozen players with about 5 of better quality.
Comedy gold looking at the posts re the retained list on FB and X. Some people really are as daft as they sound aren’t they? Retained meaning they are staying. So DKD, Phillips, Russell etc going nowhere as we have retained them. But why have we ‘retained’ Watters, Dallas? … Good grief. A little surprised to see younger names like Dyer, James, maybe even Marsh go - but a can’t pretend I’m hugely disappointed as some have eluded to being. None have shown masses, some more chances than others. Marshy seems to have found his level; he should get a contract in the Scottish lower leagues or non-league somewhere. Dyer, James and the rest - possibly not. But leaving us doesn’t necessarily mean the end for any of them.
Any idea where? Would assume he's got somewhere lined up if he's not signed the contract we've offered. Unless it's for absolutely derisory wages.
Yes imagine they said to him instead of activating it we want to offer him more years for less per week and he says no and leaves. He hinted at leaving on social media.
no idea. Just know he’s said his goodbyes to people at the club. I assume he was offered a new deal on lower wages and turned it down
