Selling DKD and the other players we'd get cash for then giving some of the money to the current DoF and recruitment team to rebuild the squad will lead to L2 The chairman may as well make a pile of the cash in the center circle at Oakwell and set fire to it and save the bother of waiting all summer for Sormaz to waste it.
Plus he is a 3rd division striker who will be 28 at the start of the new season. Odds on teams will know our financial position and will cash in. We have done this previously to other teams.
Correct, there also aren't many championship clubs awash with the figures sine are quoting prepared to take a punt on someone who hasn't played above the 3rd tier. Sense of realism required.
And this is where clubs need to remind players what a contract is! I personally would be sticking out details in the press that he's going nowhere for any less than £5m and rather than bring in absolute turd players on £3000 per week, I would make him captain and increase his wages - I would rather have DKD on £9000 a week than 3 bang average ones on £3000 p/w - we need to build a squad around such as him
Given the alleged estimated £10million loss i'd say that any bid for any player at the club will be considered.
The reality is given our financial position, we simply can't afford to turn down £3m for a player we paid £700k for a year ago. I know it's not what people want to hear, but it's the truth, and to be fair to Neerav, he said a while back that this time we would have to sell. So I don't think people can accuse him of dishonesty. IMO anyone expecting him to stay is probably being a bit naive. My bigger worry is that I have little to no faith in Mladen's ability to build a squad.
This is obviously speculation, rumour etc. But were it to prove truthful, I don’t think you could complain about a profit of that size. Nobody who has watched him over the last nine months will want him to depart, but the club must get back to that previously successful strategy of buying players to make three and four times the profit on within 12 to 24 months. That goes for any of the others who may attract interest too.
I thought we over paid in the summer and thankfully I was wrong. The joy with DKD - apart from the goals - is he's still learning and it appears he wants to improve and I feel he ended the season a better player especially his work without the ball. I think there is more to come. We're in a good position, as he's under contract and I think we should try and offload other players first, but I'll understand if we need to sell him though I think the starting price should be £5M.
£3million sounds about right, but don’t expect any of that to be reinvested into the squad via transfer fee’s. Maybe a a very small percentage for wages, no thanks to the board’s incompetence over the last few years.
