At the time we normally took a few hundred to similar games back then. 400 was quoted at Brentford and we apparently we had similar at Reading for the infamous 7-0 game not long after.
I've heard we took a coach and minibus to The Den?

Think they would’ve been more, We’d just started our climb up the leagues and the crowds were soaring. Wonder if it’s the game where a mini bus was turned over. One of the guys Harry Hargate (RIP) from Kendray complained his flask was still in the van:D

    Lol @ flask...
The minibus, plus our coach , were turned over after the 1-1 draw the following season. I think John Heath from Cudworth upset matters by passing around stink bombs in our end. We duly launched them into the section to our left. The locals weren't happy

I would have been there although I can’t remember much about it. I do recall walking down an alley to the Cold Blow Lane turnstile and being **** scared just on the basis of the reputation of the Millwall fans at the time. I would say I’ve never been to a London away game with less than 2 or 3 hundred reds fans in attendance.

Do you mean the 1979/80 season? We were on strike at the time and staying down in London for a few days. After the match, we had to break away from the Barnsley fans and it was pretty nerve wracking. The game ended 2-2, with Derrick Parker scoring on his debut.

I was there in 80-81 (March). Went with the Pinny (Cudeth) Reds. One of the lads climbed up the metal fencing and pi**ed onto the Millwall fans. Not the brightest thing to do! 1-1 draw in the end.

Was at that one myself. Locals were not too receptive that day.
Once all the shenanigans between Millwall fans and police had somewhat been contained; we were allowed to our coaches. We ended up waiting for a new coach as ours had been well damaged... stood on that wasteland-car park area surrounded by the boys of the Met.

Never went to the old ground. I think mid 90's was my first visit or could have been 2001 . At the new Den. Thankfully lol. Coaches are parked in a compound outside the away end now.
Been many times since and never had any issues tbh. Well organised . No idea re those that make other travel arrangements.

Who was there in season '92, when we whooped them at The Den, 0-4!!.
I hear they were as quiet as a mouse that day, I wonder why.
And I think it was their last season in that ground, either they moved or totally changed it.

Must’ve been that one I went to, not the following season like I thought cos I just checked and we didn’t play them then.
Went with the Coach & Horses (Sheff Road) supporters branch at the time.

I think Clarke, and Hunter especially, regularly used to say how great our away support was in those days.
And I think there were often good reports from the teams we'd visited, saying how good and impressive our fans were.
Obviously fans will support a good team, but if its a great team like it was in '81, there's going to be a lot more of them.
