The Essex keeper is a decent batsman … not to be sneezed at !
We’ve got Bean though and he’s a good runner.
    Sorry

Sadly they’ve booked in for bed and breakfast with bats made of sponge - pretty much as I suspected.

Could still get them - I hope so but it’s looking less likely now - and I still maintain the declaration was too late. All we gave them was the prospect of batting four sessions out to draw.

They were never going to play too many shots.

The extra overs we’d have had might turn out to have been vital - as may the balls blocked by Bean when we saw afterwards how quickly it was possible to score.

Conjecture though. Still a game on.

    And another. And another!
As always happens with a big partnership once one goes, the other follows, with Thain also gone.

Door is wide open now at 206-7

Thank goodness for George Hill. Hope Jonny doesn't regret batting on last night!

212-8 and everyone close to the bat. It’s been a real struggle today until the ball before tea but it’s only going one way now. Harmer is a decent batsman but he’ll not do it on his own.

9 down now. I believe Yorkshire can request an extension until 6pm if they can’t wrap it up by 5:30.

52 balls remaining, come on Yorks!
Fair play to the Essex supporters who turned out this morning, they've got their money's worth!

How weird is Moriarty’s ‘run up’ starts with a bit of a run then stops and walks in a couple of strides to his delivery

Hope we won't rue that come the end of the season, ridiculous decisions from Bairstow, why carry on with Bess against Porter when he was happily blocking him!?
