https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj3j5gxgz0do Every time I read about this it gets worse and worse. I hope all involved are properly held to account and they look all the way up the chain of command.
Reading that article is abhorrent. It reads that badly, it almost feels like it’s made up. I sincerely hope none of it is true, however even if it was, I imagine it would be covered up.
Its interesting to hear reference to them being psychopaths. What studies found after WW1 was that a lot of soldiers didn't fire directly at the enemy, only a small number (psychopaths) actually fired directly at enemy soldiers. Training was adjusted after that to de-humanise the individual and the enemy to make it easier to kill. Nevertheless, during WW2 it was shown that German Machine Gunners on the Eastern Front cracked up with some regularity because of their direct actions, also they had to come up with a less direct way to genocide the local Jewish population because ordinary soldiers were being traumatised by the process of mass shooting Jews and tried to avoid being recruited into the process. The most effect groups in this process were those volunteer units made up of local German Police - also probably psychopaths.
Ah but that's what "these woke lefty lawyers" want init? Lock up all the army cos the british or summat. Like they wanted to arrest the soldiers for the Bloody Sunday murders. You're not a war criminal - and moreover, an immigrant - if you're British, apparently. You're just an "expat" who "did his duty"
You can’t put yourself in the position that those brave soldiers were facing then. It’s easy to be an arm chair hero. Try putting yourself in their position when many in the country, woman and children included want to kill you. only they don’t wear a uniform…
Look here you. If YOU haven't served in the armed forces then YOU have no right to be appalled at someone executing a handcuffed child in cold blood. You silly silly person
If I were in that position I wouldn't summarily execute handcuffed children. Anyone who does that isn't "brave," they're a psychopathic coward who needs a long prison sentence.
Can't criticise paedophile priests unless you're a priest. Can't criticise a terrorist unless you've blown yourself up previously. Can't criticise tax dodgers unless you've snaffled a wedge away in the Virgin Islands. The logic stands up.
I think there’s a pretty clear distinction about what’s right and wrong and also a huge gray area that’s weighted in favour of those serving. You have to *u*k up pretty badly and do some pretty unsavoury stuff the be on the wrong side of the law. No sympathy.
I’d also like to point out that I didn’t want those soldiers in Iraq OR Afghanistan. It’s bad enough I have to fund them being there out of my taxes, but to thank them for being somewhere I don’t want them to be, fighting a war I don’t want them in, is a bit much. And before you say anything, yes please don’t get involved in those countries on any level and I will take my chances with the terrorists.
This is correct. Was the same in the American civil war. They found loads of muskets with the barrels chock full of powder/bullets. They realised that they were following orders to load and then not actually firing, because, well they didn't really want kill people. There was a really good channel 4 documentary years and years about how they worked out how to make squaddies trained killers. IIRC there were 3 types. One who didn't want to kill and would do their utmost not to. Two, who weren't killers but rationalised their actions as 'it was required to do this' and psychopaths who just enjoyed every minute of it.
But there were troops there who didn't do any of those things but were in the same situation. Stop making excuses.
With respect mate. It's not Joe public telling these horrific stories. But if to be believed, those special forces present at the events. I don't envy anyone going into battle. And it's well known no-one could be trusted. Kids and women included. But what are your thoughts on the accusers, ?. BTW The film Warfare is brutal, scary and tense throughout. A true event. Of what the allies (US) went through. In Iraq. And an example of how soldiers look out for one another. Risking their own lives. I just wonder if it was all worth it.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp3q5xl9wqwo This is appalling. An absolute scandal that shames us as a nation.
Horrible, embarrassing set of circumstances. Put em' all in jail and if Putin comes a calling wish we had the best of the best to come and rescue you. Could call em' the dirty dozen.
There hadn't been a single death at the hands of a Muslim terrorist in great Britain for over 30 years prior to our illegal invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. Since those illegal invasions there have been 16 terror attacks by Muslims Makes you wonder what it was that angered them all so much. Couldn't possibly be that we illegally invaded their countries and then murdered their children can it?
