I genuinely hope he becomes a success somewhere. I hoped he would here tbh, but every time hes played, he just doesn't seem to get on the end of things or do much no matter hard he tries.

I wish him nothing but the best, but I just don't think he was good enough for what we want unfortunately

Maybe the club had made the decision that they weren't going to give AM another contract and sent him out on loan, to give himself the opportunity to put himself in the shop window to earn a contract at Raith, or elsewhere. If AM has done himself justice during his loan spell, then hopefully the lad will find himself another club.

 

I'm not looking for an argument when I say this as it's just my opinion and you're quite within your rights to disagree. I don't quite understand why a club that's paying a young footballer a salary under a contract that he's signed, are obliged to pay for their digs when sending a player out on loan. If I worked for a company and I was transferred to work in another part of the country on a temporary contract, I doubt my employer would pay me extra to pay my mortgage/rent for moving. I'm assuming I'd be given the opportunity to move, or leave the company. Maybe I'm completely wrong as I've never been in this position. Either way, I hope AM finds another club and goes on to have a long and very successful career.

 

Not a problem just comparing to other players like Nile Rangers ,was he left to sort his own digs . ???????? What he do for BFC

 

I’d have expected the club that loaned them to sort out where they’d be staying whilst playing for them.

 

Nile Ranger was on loan from Newcastle United if my memory serves me right. So I'd assume he'd have paid for his own digs from the wages he was paid by Newcastle at the time. If you're suggesting that Barnsley paid for his accommodation, then your argument would be why haven't Raith paid for AM's accommodation whilst on loan with them.
And for the record, I agree with you, NR did nothing for BFC. He was pure sh*te.

Whilst imo the club should make contact whilst away and check their progress. It is surely the responsibility of the loan club not the parent to provide digs. But to a standard player agrees to. Or allowed to go back to the parent club.

 

Whenever I’ve worked away from home for any given period of time, my employer has provided a hotel or other accommodation. I don’t think it unreasonable to expect that a professional football club would treat its employees the same. Poor if we are failing in our basic duty of care to young employees.

 

I think the club as been at fault for building up young players to be something they aren't.. Remember when someone at the club filmed AM and Ackroyd driving round like two local celebrities dropping off STs or Shirts for Christmas presents or something.. That's all well and good but they hadn't played 5 first team games between em..
Theyre falsely built up.. in hope more than anything.. to me it falls somewhere between negligence and stupidity by those that are supposed to be looking out for em.. The more you build em up the harder the fall.
Two things must be stated.. that overwhelmingly most of the lads in the academy will not make it.. and those that do manage to get a professional contract haven't then made it.. It is always an ongoing process..if anything thats when the hard work starts.. They are then completing against full pros day in day out..
The club is not a charity.. if they're good enough they'll play if not they'll be moved on..
It may sound harsh to some but the reality is that the conveyor belt keeps moving..

It was my choice, to use Marsh and Ackroyd that Christmas. They weren’t the only lads used. About 10 in total, in pairs, dropped off merchandise as a surprise to supporters which we filmed as feelgood content. You try and use the right players at the right time for whatever it is you’re trying to achieve.

For example, we received a commendation from the EFL when we chose Lopata and Cotter to sit down for ‘an uncomfortable conversation’ about racism. Because I knew Barry in particular was keen to address it, and so I knew it’d be a good idea. It’s about knowing your talent and your audience. A few years ago, Sollbauer was the last person you’d associate with comedy. But that’s why we used him in so many humorous videos because he was so unfunny. And he loved doing them.

Joe and Aiden are best mates. Two young Barnsley lads who have a great connection. It was always going to be a funny video which was the reason we picked them. It was absolutely nothing to do with building them up. If you work in marketing it isn’t on you to improve the person’s ability to kick a football. The goal was to create fun content at Christmas, whilst at the same time advertise merchandise.

I hope whoever runs marketing these days absolutely hammers folk with feelgood, uplifting and entertaining content this summer and helps raise the mood of the fanbase ahead of a bright new era under Conor and co. But if they choose to use a particular footballer on a video I won’t be holding them responsible if the player doesn’t turn out to be Redfearn mark II.

As for Marshy, I told him two summers ago to move on, for his own sake. But he’s a Reds fan. And backed himself to succeed. I know the feeling. But I also know you’ve sometimes got to look out for yourself and beyond the here and now. Good luck to him. An absolute gent and credit to his family.

You obviously know something thats gone off behind the scenes.All i see is a young footballer not in the managers plans and has been released probably joining several hundred players in the same situation.
I wish him well and I'm sure he'll get another club and kick start his career.
