Hey guys, yeah it's time to start thinking about it again isn't it lol. Wow the early 80s were such a time, and not just to do with footy!. But here we go ehh... With '81... Come on ehh guys, let's talk about it. Here's the Rock n roll Bbc memories of that year.
History shows the Reds lost 1-0 at home to Cardiff on 26th September 1981. But I was at another match. (Lady Kaht, as she became, was there too!)
Left school and started Willowgarth 6th Form (so I didn't leave school at all!). Saw the Reds get promoted after what I still consider my favourite season ever under Norman Hunter.
The year of my 17th birthday and finished first full year of my apprenticeship. Also a promotion for the best Reds side of my lifetime. Happy days….
Fantastic times...well the start of them for me anyway...left st micks, went to 6th form....16 years old...great times at oakwell and had my first pint in channels (scared to death).
On the 28th of April 1981 we beat Rotherham at home 1-0 courtesy of a Ronnie Glavin goal to clinch promotion to Division 2 ( Today’s Championship) Boy I partied all that night and all the weekend as it was my 21st Birthday on the 29th.
Lost my Dad on 21/12/81 Annus Horibilus. Great year for football if you're a Red. RIP Les, Once a Red Always a Red xxx
That was my second year working for Pye Unicam in Cambridge, I passed my driving test just after New Year and my first trip was to Middlesbrough (via Bolton on Dearne to pick my dad up) for the FA Cup match which we lost 2-1 despite dominating the game against the1st Division side.
Was 23 .Very attractive girlfriend..Good job.. lvly VW Golf.. 3 holidays that year..Reds were superb and the nights out in tarn were magic... Great time to be young.
Left Wuzbrer High, best school by far btw.... Music, territorial conflict, shagging, and then there was my beloved Barnsley FC. Jesus Christ! Seriously!? Best time ever being a Tarn fan, bar none! Especially if you was brought up in the "Iley Out" years
