    I've seen this repeated a lot, with nobody ever explaining why. I think at this point it's just instilled into the collective BBS consciousness despite none of us knowing where it came from.

    If I remember rightly. The rumour was summat about Stendl being reported for talking to Huddersfield behind the clubs back. And subsequently put on gardening leave.

    Not the worst manager results wise. And tbf kept us in the championship and that memorable victory at Anfield .But on the only occasion I ever approached him re a presentation we needed to hand over. An arrogant two hat. Doesn't surprise me he dint get anywhere else. In english football. As all he wanted to do was brag about being the bloke with the most footballing qualifications. Not exactly endearing qualities.

    After retiring, Preston manager David Moyes gave Davey a chance at coaching with the club and within a short time Davey was in charge of Preston's Youth Academy, later moving to the Youth Academy at Barnsley. As part of his coaching education, he gained the UEFA C Licence, the UEFA B Licence, the UEFA A Licence and the UEFA Pro Licence in 2005 as well as the Academy Managers licence and the UEFA Youth Licence.

    Now apparently
    He is now Executive Director of a youth club in America called Southern Soccer Academy

    Nice work if you can get it I suppose.

    He was probably the most backed manager financially since administration and played half the year with about 10 defensive players in trying to get nil nil draws.

    If you've not seen it, this interview with Andy Ritchie and Rick Holden by Ben is well worth watching. Funny and informative at the same time.
