https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c79el1v028wo Unbelievable. Surely change the day, make alternative transport arrangements, or move the match to somewhere in the midlands like Villa Park. Roughly equidistant between Oldham and Southend, would be an amazing atmosphere as close to a sell-out. Far too simple.
Just another example of football fans being treated like **** , villa park would have done the trick but unfortunately the fa are greedy ********.
The FA opted to build an expensive national stadium - usual vanity project , - London centric nonsense, now they have to wring as much money as they can out of it.
Rebuild of stadium has been paid for, pure greed now, although in this instance won’t be due to ticket limits
Wat a complete joke. This country is ******* ****. Why are they doing work on playoff weekends. ******* idiots.
I get what you are saying. But the the experience of wembley. Is what most players and fans want. Jack Tatty makes a point. Those that support the clubs throughout the season. Will hopefully get tickets to the game. For most of the others it's a day out. Wanting to win. But come next season won't be visiting their home grounds. It surprises me the low number of coaches that are sourced due to crowd limit. A daft reason imo. Let the clubs keep filling em.
I don't really get why any of the play off games are at Wembley anymore. The nostalgia of Wembley has died. The FA should auction them off to the highest bidder like uefa do with the European finals.
It was my friend who supports Southend who told me about all of this. He says the works have been planned for 6 months. Someone, somewhere has fcked up royally.
There needs to be some advantage for 3rd place teams, who often finish 20+ points above the 6th placed team, so all play offs should be similar to how they do it in non-league. Plus they need to do away with the trophies. Semi-Finals - 3rd place at home to 6th and 4th at home to 5th - one leg, extra-time and penalties if needed. Ticket allocations as per a normal league game. Final - highest placed semi-final winner at home, same again, one leg, extra-time and penalties if needed. Again, ticket allocations as per a normal league game. The only exception to this should be if Barnsley finish 3rd or 4th, in which case we should be allowed to play the game as far from Oakwell as possible, to give us a chance of winning!
