So you think it's brain surgeons and lawyers on these boats then? Why bother simply catching a flight when you can travel across mainland Europe, camp in Calais and then risk your life crossing the Channel?

Perhaps they do this because they know that if they tried to come here LEGALLY, they'd have no chance due to the fact that they have no skills, a criminal record, not a penny to their name or all of the above.

We've all seen enough images (from lots of sources before you say "GB News?"). The vast, vast majority of those coming here ILLEGALLY are men between the ages of 20-35. Very few women, very few children.

And no, I'm sorry, but they're not fleeing oppression or war. Let's say war breaks out in the UK to the point people started to leave. Would the men leave their wives and children where they are and save themselves? Or would we send the women and children first?

Have you not seen the footage from inside these hotels? Not one woman in sight, just gangs of men with nice new clothes and shiny new phones.

I'm all for accepting genuine refugees, and LEGAL immigration has contributed massively to our society. What they're doing now is destroying the very fabric of this Country. If that makes me "RaCiSt" well, call me what you like.

Update on my young lad.
He has an eight mm kidney stone which has to be surgically removed. Too large to pass naturally. Also to get stents put in.
Going down tomorrow morning.

The majority are men because if they are granted asylum status then it's easier for them to arrange safe passage for family members to follow. Why would you risk the whole family on a dinghy?

You might not be racist, but you are very misguided at the very least in the issues of immigration.

For a start, all these entering the country ‘illegally’ - explain to me the legal and safe passage into the country for asylum seekers.

 

OK. So I can only go on the stuff you have posted which seems to pretty much make you appear racist. Have you ever wondered how your wife ended up here (or her forebears?). My parents came here from Ireland in the 1940’s, for a better life, and faced pretty much the same kind of abuse that is being spewed out today. I am not able to countenance the hypocrisy that would make me question anyone else making the same decision. And the fact remains that the overwhelming number of migrants have been brought here because we, as a country, have lured them here to do jobs that we have either decided not to do, or are unwilling to make the necessary investment to train them.

 

Hopefully you'll not share with them that you've previously reposted a tweet on here mocking the disappearance and probable death of a young child.

 

Well they appear to be coming primarily through France, and several other "safe" Countries. I wonder why they're doing that? Could it be for our very generous benefits system? Most probably. I doubt it's the weather.

How far do you want to go back? Where's the cut off? We all came from Africa when you go back to the origins of humanity.

It's 2025, we are where we are. The Country and it's services are on its knees. We can't take any more people. We can't look after the ones we have now.

Call me what you like, but I care about my family first, myself second, my Country third and every one and everything else comes after that.

I feel sorry for those who are born in less fortunate circumstances than we are, I really do. But what's the answer? Continually dilute our standards of living until we're a third world country too?

By the way, I may have missed them, but I've not seen anyone actually give a reasoned answer as to why these people are coming through several safe countries to come here. The second they leave a safe country to come here, they stop being asylum seekers and become economic migrants. That's just objectively true.

 

For a large majority it's because they either speak English or have family/contacts here.

 

They get far less "benefits" here than many european countries, so I doubt it.
They come here because they have some form of ties here and because if everyone went to the closest country it would be absolute bedlam. For example, if war broke out in Ireland or Iceland do you think every single person from Ireland should be forced to come to the UK because it's the closest country or do you think maybe it makes more sense for refugees to go to where they feel safest which leads to them being spread around which is better for everybody.

If you look at the countries that they travel through from Syria for example, you'll find that every country in a row has a lower number than the country "before" in the path.
