I have an iPhone and it now simply refuses to connect to my laptop USB to copy pictures across. I can email them to myself 3 or 4 at a time but that's a total ballache. I refuse to use iCloud storage. However, my Vodafone broadband router has a USB socket to which I have connected a hard drive which I can access from my W11 laptop as a networks storage drive. The drive mapping is a bit weird and looks like this; \\vodafone.broadband\WDCWD50_00LPVX22V0TT0_1_98da So far I've been unable to get my sodding iPhone to connect to this. Anyone got any ideas? 30 years as an IT developer and I'm reduced to this...
I use CX File Explorer, I'm on android but as far as I'm aware you can get it for iPhone. I use it to connect to my NAS to move TV shows/movies to it for Plex. You can add Network shares so you should be able to do it
Have you looked at the apps available for transferring photos around iPhones, pads, laptops etc. There is plenty of choice in App Store
3 possible things: 1) There was a setting option that came in the other year, where the data part of the phone port was able to be disabled. So if you plugged into a 3rd party device in public, there’s no chance of being hacked etc. That can be switched on and off. 2) Is your cable a proper cable? Some cheaper cables are power only, and don’t have data capabilities. 3) Is your phone port clean? Sometimes debris can block certain capabilities.
The cable is the same one I've been using for some time and I think the port is clean (I'll check). I think you might be onto something on point 1, it used to work until recently and iOS has updated a couple of times lately. Its an iPhone 12 mini now on iOS 18.5. Any idea where I can find the setting?
Couldn't get the damn thing to connect using the USB cable so I installed GoFTP on the phone and Filezilla on my laptop. It's a bit clunky but works fine. Thanks for the suggestions folks.
Not having used it, I would have to synch all the pictures on my phone (5Gb+) and it would take ages just to get the few pictures that I wanted. The other thing is that I would probably have filled up my free iCloud and I ain't paying for any more. Good suggestion though and I had thought about it.
Have you tried using a memory stick? You can get them with an iPhone socket and usb socket on the same device. You can then transfer.
I can fix it for you. Send me all your bank details and pin number and I'll get into it, sorry on to it, straight away.
