This is the tweet copied out: nothing solid but heard rumours of ma huateng is interested in acquiring a majority stake in barnsley fc, he held contacts with members of barnsley investment group and declared he would be keen and interested. Further updates to come I think someone may be bored in the school holidays.
Get what you’re saying but I’m afraid it’s just the way football is going. All the successful clubs have foreign investment now as the game is ruled by money…..sadly.
Given the amount of money the club is seemingly haemorrhaging every month, I would be shocked if they weren’t praying for investors.
We are in advanced talks with Jed Steer and Sonny Bradley apparently. Latest one doing the rounds on X
Interesting comment from Marley Watkins in the Chronicle .Conor rang him asking for some info on a player .

Ma Huateng is allegedly worth 52 billion! Makes the Parekh family look like paupers. Not that makes any difference to what he'd be able to actually put into the Club with the finance restrictions of course. Can't see anyone coming in and willingly throw X amount of millions down a pit. Our current owners do it out of necessity rather than desire. Conway and Lee fed them a line about getting to the Prem on a shoestring no doubt, and their lack of knowledge (very evident) on how football actually works, they went along for the ride. That being said, it'd be nice to get some fresh blood in the boardroom, new ideas and all that.
At this point I wouldn’t mind a major investor prepared to write losses off against tax, while having a bit of fun. As discussed in earlier threads, the future isn’t looking good with our current losses.
