I was thinking the same both jed steer and Bradley over 30. Surprised we're going back to signing older players like we have the last few seasons.
Both good mates with Conor and players he can trust. Bradley has been a top L1 CB for last few seasons so been playing consistently for top end sides so still more than capable
Still would leave us with three players in their 30s since probably the Danny Wilson 2nd time around, unless we plan to get rid of Roberts.
We've just made a bit of a thing about extending the contracts of Flavell and Bland.. plus there's Yoganathan and Jalo..so how much up and coming potential do you want in the squad.. What about the here and now..? The main question I'd be asking.. in a defence that conceded 75 goals last season. Would Steer and Bradley despite their age be an improvement come this August or not..
Don't see that as an issue personally. Many of us have asked for more experience for a while. We still have more than enough sellable assets that we can develop for profit etc.
I'd be surprised if conor will be desperate for CH's Given he prefers 4 at the back. (So do I, they focus on their own game not worrying about having to cover out wide) With Shepherd and lopata back. He will have to offload a couple or go with those available. He may have someone in mind to come and strengthen. A proper leader. Depends on who he is able to hang onto in midfield. But Goalkeeper and Striker are the main priorities for me. But he apparantly likes wingers. Humphries imo is a priority to get to stay imo (Either way. New contract or option in clubs favour for another year.)
Only other option is, i don't know how far down the pecking order he is. Would they let him come on loan. Paying most of his wages. ?. He's totally stagnated since leaving us. 43 games in 5yrs. £4.5m gross wages in that period. If sources are to be believed. £1.3m to come. In the next year. To illustrate how the game is fekked. £130k per game. If he doesn't play another. (£390k per game whilst at utd) Nice work if you can get it.
Wycombe fans desperate to keep him. He's been quality for them since he joined. Was fantastic for Derby in their recent promotion too. He's a multiple promotion winning captain who is better than anything we have and good mates with the current head coach. Not sure how it's not anything but a good move.
Couple of years ago I would have agreed with you. Another ageing centre back on probably decent wages.
