Imagine this: We make a week 10 days long, work 6 and have 4 off. Rename the days to Oneday, Twoday, Threeday, Fourday etc. Imagine how much more productive you’d be if you got a four day weekend. Vote for me.
Can I alternatively put forward the suggestion to add a 13th month. All 13 months are 28 days. All start on Monday and end on Sunday. That gives us 364 days. The final day is new years day which doesn't have a day of the week it's just a global extra day. On leap years it's a double.
Couldn’t we just have 36 weeks in a year, and then 5 days of feasting and merriment in the summer while weather is nice.
Will you be asking employers to increase holiday entitlement to cover the extra day etc, You'll get my vote if so.
Does that mean I'd have had to work nearly every other weekend. Fekk that. How's about what I used to work. A 4 day week. Over 5 mon-fri. Full time hrs 9.25 hrs a day. 7:30 - 17:15 (Inc snap time) Week 1 Mon. Off Week 2 Tues off Week 3 Wed off Week 4 Thurs off Week 5 Fri off. Repeat . Long weekend (4 days off) every 5 weeks. Fekk working Saturdays and Sundays.
In a former life I worked as a production engineer in a CNC and press workshop. For a few years I was on nights which consisted of M, T, W, T, 10pm till 6.30 am. So it was a long weekend every week. I'd be up out of bed on Friday at about 2 in the afternoon and ready for the weekend shenanigans, would still be at it come Sunday night into early hours of Monday. As it coincided with my heaviest of clubbing years it was great.
Very similar to the temporary French Revolutionary calendar. However they worked nine days! Imagine that.
Sounds dangerously brilliant. I bet that Monday night shift was a right laugh if you'd been on it for most of the previous 72 hours.
Yes I do, but I wasn't in any way making a reference to that. So apologies if anyone took it that way. Especially as the thread was clearly talking about working days etc.
It was the early 90s, used to get plenty of sleep at work (as well as nipping round the back for a joint with the guy from the lab!!).
