22-years-old and one month, and he's already won two French, two Wimbledon and one US. Unreal. I'm sure he'll have the Aussie at some point. For comparison, Federer at 22-years-old and one month had won one major, Djokovic one major and Nadal had four French. It's still staggering to me that Rafa won 14 French. For more comparisons, that's one less slam than Brits have achieved ever. 15, of which Murray won three, Wade with three, Barker's French and Perry's 8 (pre-Open era).
I have had a Sam Cosgrove. An absolute mare. Raducanu, Jones, Mortimer all won slam finals. I will attempt another stat to make up for it: Novak Djokovic appeared in 39.1% of the major finals played since he turned pro in 2003. That's 36 of 92 slam finals.
I was wrong about the Alcaraz stat too. He’s on five at the exact same point as Nadal. Same age exactly, according to Instagram. Where I got my other stats. So who knows what’s true anymore. I still shout ‘come on, Tim’ at Wimbledon.
Incredible. Just incredible. The perfect succession. Carlos for Rafa. Heavenly tennis in the most heavenly of sports. Beautiful to watch.
