Oh god, that was horrendous! The same cars used to drive round and round all night and would pull up and try and convince us to go with them. I loved the nights out (a bit of a mad concept night clubs putting foam parties on for kids now that I think about it) but that part was always scary.

 

Disgusting really isn't it. There was a girl in my class who was in a relationship with a plumber who was paid to come into the school to decorate or refit the toilets or something. I remember all too clearly her having a chat with a teacher in the middle of my french class about how he would finger her (apologies) and he wasn't very good at it. the teacher told her to ask him to buy her a toy to use together.

 

You know who annoys me about it more than anyone? The parents. I know in these well publicised cases the girls were often in care but in my experiences of growing up in Barnsley that wasn't really the case. It was girls who's parents knew what was happening and allowed it. In my opinion they should be up in front of a judge too.

I've told you before about the girls from cudwortg and grimethorpe who my (former) friends used to go and take out for sex. The girls mothers knew full well what was happening and were actually friendly with their daughter's abusers.
A specific memory I have was of a friend picking up two girls and taking them both back home. They spent the night and the following morning their PARENT went to his house to drop off their uniform for school. The girls were both 13. I wasn't present that night but it doesn't take a genius to work out what happened when one of the girls later claimed to be pregnant with his baby.

He was around 20 at the time.


And I'm not even going to name the BBS member who travelled across the country to meet an underage schoolgirl who he had groomed. Wasn't long until that same girl was crying to me about what he had done. Only reason I'm not naming that person is because it's a long time ago and I cannot prove the allegation but I know it happened.

 

Unfortunately, that would violate the UK's international human rights obligations.

 

It’s crazy that it was such a short time ago and it’d be hard to believe except everyone at school then knows that’s exactly what it was like. I can say with confidence though that I would never expect a member of school staff to act like that now unless it was an extremely weird one (obviously can be the case as there’s wrong ‘uns everywhere), whereas the teacher would have seemed weird if they’d have made a fuss before.

 

When i was at school, would have been very late 90s/early 2000s there was a caretaker at the school (would have been in his early 20s i imagine) who was somewhat openly in a relationship with a girl in year 10. Everyone knew about it. Crazy to think about isn’t it.

When I was at school, late 70's to 81 there were always guys outside the main entrance in Capri's and Escort's picking up 14 and 15 year olds.
Then there were the rumours, some of which were substantiated, of teachers indulging in fifth formers!
We even had one teacher who was rumoured to be "seeing" a certain lass and, three years later, they were walking hand in hand around town on a weekend evening.

Lol....the old Ford Capri was the fanny magnet of the time (apologies for my crasness to anyone offended, but that was the term back then). They'd turn up with their long bonnet, looking like John Travolta, and whisk away the top totty!

No. They were reluctant to waste money having a second enquiry into child sexual abuse that had already been conducted and the findings ignored by the Tories.

I'm not entirely sure. But the fact remains that they weren't reluctant to have one, they were reluctant to have a second one just 2 years after the first one. Remember there while there was the independent enquiry into child sexual abuse there was also a very specific and in depth investigation into grooming gangs.

I've also always thought that if a horrible case (like this) can be proved 100% clear cut guilty, with no doubts etc.
Then could there be a way back for the death penalty again.
However, when you look at it over the years, its a controversial thing, and it has been used very unfairly!.
