I’ve put no, They’ll get Israel to do it, hence the massive support for Israel in everything Middle East related, they’re the agent of the west over there.
There’s some scepticism of the ability of the US bomb to actually destroy the nuclear facility built into the mountain , there are some who think only a tactical nuclear missile could penetrate deep enough to destroy it or an attack by troops to get in and destroy it
I can’t help but think if I was Iranian that I would want my country to have a nuclear weapon. North Korea’s got them & nobody’s attacked them. It’s a fantastic self defence mechanism. It’s also a bit rich to worry about Iran possibly using one when we’ve got crackpots like Trump & Netanyahu who can push the button.
As a side issue this is yet another reason not to vote Labour again. Disgraceful complicity by Starmer and Lammy as it has been ever since Israel started murdering people in Gaza. Appalling. Makes me embarrassed to be associated with my government.
Starmer must be absolutely shitting himself that Trump might go all in on Iran and demand that we join them.
All he has to do is tell him that we're defending Europe now, seeing as the USA has decided they are no longer going to.
Do you mean the one that was exactly on a fault line, was 10km underground which is deeper than humans can dig a usable hole and had a seismic wave pattern identical to an earthquake and nothing like the wave patterns produced by a nuclear test. You mean that one?
Yes, North Korea can be left alone to implement its socialist utopia and starve its people to death. Meanwhile if Iran had a nuke they could give it to Hezbollah and start ww3 with any number of the countries it’s committed terrorist attacks in, meanwhile Saudi Arabia would get their own nukes as well as they’re such good friends with Iran, just let them all have nukes fk it, wooohooo!
I hope you don't think a vote for the Tories or Reform will produce anything better. So, Green or LibDems?
Which bit is propaganda? Genuine question mate. Id be shocked if the other middle Eastern nations don't produce their own nuclear weapons if Iran does. I'm not convinced Iran does have any though. They have enriched uranium well over typical civilian nuclear purposes and its close to weapon grade. However, Trumps very own appointed Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, said herself Iran doesn't have nukes very recently. I had very very little knowledge of anything in the middle east until October 7th, and I've changed my opinions on things a drastic number of times since that date. Israel has gone so far off whats acceptable, in fact they did that a while ago. I personally do think its a genocide in Palestine. I dont get why we are funding both sides, yet again. Netanyahu is a war criminal. But I also don't think saying why shouldn't the ayatollah of Iran have nukes because Trump does. I think its obvious why. And even though I detest the man, I refuse to say he's like a Hitler or Mao - I just believe that's an insult to those millions who died under their cruelty.
I suspect (hope I'm wrong) that in the US the Israeli lobby, the far right 'Christian' lobby and Saudi Arabia have already made Trump's mind up. All three want Iran "dealt with" and the non existent nukes is just another handy cover, which is, useful when you have swathes of nations full of folk who will believe any old guff when it appeals to their inner shadow. Not sure about how you do this by just dropping bombs and without troops on the ground, which there's little chance of. If it happens there will be a lot of dead Iranian people and some very angry people. Remember Gaza, remember Iraq?
Do you know what happened to all the socialist in Iran once they’d help the clerics into power? These men run a death cult and you can’t see why the rest of the world would do well to avoid giving them a bomb? Here’s some propaganda for you. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DK_yPXooH95/?igsh=NndzNWZheDd5YjVt
Most of the posts so far seems to be conflating two issues. Gaza and Iran. The original post focused on Iran so my post deals with that alone. I urge you all to do the same. Iran is a theocracy. It murders people for being gay. It subjugates women and is a throwback to medieval times. My abiding memory was press coverage of young people in 2013 on a rooftop in Iran dancing to Pharrell Williams happy and being thrown in prison for it. They are backers of terrorist organisations across the region and seek and cause instability. For them to have a nuclear weapon would be a hand grenade to humanity.
You keep telling me how backwards and dangerous the Iranian government is, as though I've said anything to the contrary. The Iranian regime has an oppressive human rights record, particularly toward women and LGBTQ+ people. And Iran’s support for proxy groups in the region does fuel instability, and fears around nuclear weapons are not baseless. I get it. But we also have to separate a brutal regime from the millions of ordinary Iranians who suffer under it. Many of them, especially young people, desperately want freedom, dignity, and peace. They’re the ones paying the highest price during conflicts, sanctions, and now, airstrikes. Demonising an entire nation risks overlooking their struggle. Yes, we must oppose theocratic repression and regional destabilisation. But peace and justice require both accountability and empathy. Last week, Israel attacked Iran. Reports suggest 2,000 people killed or seriously injured. Then, over 600 killed or injured in Israel since the Iranian retaliation. That's my issue. As I say, I don’t think any country should have nuclear weapons. The idea that some nations can hold weapons of mass destruction while denying others the same is both morally inconsistent and dangerous. That said, I also understand the geopolitical reality. It’s not as simple as asking everyone to disarm when power and deterrence have been built on these arsenals for decades. But it's double standards. Iran is vilified, and now attacked for allegedly pursuing nuclear capability (no evidence at all), while Israel, which is widely believed to have a nuclear arsenal, isn’t even a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and faces little international scrutiny. It’s not about defending the Iranian regime - it’s about recognising that applying rules selectively only undermines the rules themselves.
