Laminate throughout here too, and always been barefoot. Got Crocs slippers which are superb. Never knock a croc
If you put your foot flat on the floor and run your finger down the outside...about 3/4 of the way back to the heel there's a bit that noticeably sticks out ( cuboid bone)..are you getting any pain from that?
You've got my sympathy. I've had it three times. On the first two occasions I tried new footwear and inserts but it took months to clear up. On the third occasion a work colleague recommended I do various stretching exercises as detailed on YouTube/ Google. Eg using a bottle / tennis ball and step. The exercises could be painful but they helped massively and it cleared up much quicker. Also the Naproxen really helped. It's worth considering. It's not just for helping with the pain, it really can help to significantly reduce the inflammation which is ultimately what you need. Good luck.
I had it and even though I saw a physiotherapist, wore prescription insoles, exercised with a Theraband etc… the thing that cured it in the end was acupuncture in my feet. Took a few weeks but was well worth it.
Had it on and off for years. Place your hands on a wall and stretch your Achilles tendons. If it persists, go see a podiatrist who will probably provide some custom fit insoles based on a mould taken from your foot. Wear Hoka trainers/shoes as much as possible and Birkenstock sandals in hotter weather.
Inflamed cuboid bone is like that to some degree, pain across both bottom and top of the foot and up behind the ankle ( sometimes), my foot was swollen badly but tbf the bit that sticks out at the side hurt quite badly, I would guess your own diagnosis is correct.
I used these pads together with Sketchers go walk trainers (as recommended by a chiropodist- made it bearable (also used ibruprofen gel on the heel
I do a reasonable amount of running and got it 10 years ago . I run around 20-30 miles per week.It was at its worst on a morning and as soon as my heel touched the floor was in agony and had to limp to the toilet. It was okay for walking / running through the day after the initial pain etc until a long rest period then the cycle started all over again. I got some moulded inserts for my running trainers from the place upstairs in meadowhell-they have/had a machine that you walk/run on and it moulds the insert to where the main pressure hits when walking/ running. Someone’s already mentioned it, but get a small bottle of water , put it in the freezer and roll it under the bridge of your foot/heal every night while watching telly - oh, and keep your sock on so it doesn’t stick! Also google plantir fascitis roller as they’re handy to have I’ve been on crutches for the last 10 years now though - I’ll get mi coyt! only kidding, I’m at 20 per miles week and never had it since
Now I think on Another exercise was to do a stretch for the Achilles but point in the foot on the affected side - it worked for me , but ask a physio before attempting at home!
To be honest Ive never heard of it, but admittedly I do suffer from gout. And I agree, it's awful when you can't even walk properly, because of pain in your feet!.
