It's laughable to suggest that we have any prospect of 'reining in' the US - especially under this President.

''The United States is the largest contributor to NATO's defence spending, accounting for approximately 16% of the total expenditure as of 2024''

Funniest or unfunniest thing is starmer keep saying about "de escalation" if I had a quid for everytime he's said it in the past few day and flying planes over to help de escalate..... but when Netanyahu was commiting genocide he said and did nothing.

We'll never rein the US in but it just reminds me of the Iraq war and you know we will follow America again. Especially with the sound bites coming from starmer.

Its laughable that you will not, under any circumstances, criticise Starmer. Really is.
The Uk should make a stand, should not support attacks on a sovereign state. Starmer won't of course because he has no backbone. And you'll lap it all up. Laughable

Depends how it goes, I suppose. We're not involved as of yet - we have simply voiced our agreement to Iran being prevented from developing nuclear weapons. I can't see why anyone in the West would disagree with that. I don't want to get into the whole Iraq war debate (too contentious), but 9/11 represent the greatest terrorist attack on UK citizens in history, I believe.

I'd be interested to know how making a stand against America would benefit our military, intelligence or economic interests.

Your laughable, criticising Starmer at every end and turn, even hijacking other threads to stick the knife in.

Make no mistake this government is fully endorsing what Netanyahu and his cronies are doing in Gaza. It makes me sick to be honest. Anyone that dare say anything against the Israeli's is immediately shot down with the anti semitic bull ****. Those poor civilians in Gaza and everything they're being put through by the IDF. Israel needs putting in it's place. Sadly it's not only Gaza, but also the increase in illegal settlements in the West Bank. Oh and apparently Iran was about to use nuclear weapons...

If I'm wrong I'm wrong. If I'm not wrong I'm not laughable. If, therefore, you think I'm wrong that's an opinion that's up to you. Doesn't matter what thread I post on. If there's relevance I'll post. If its irrelevant I wont post. Simple. Therefore, its actually your criticism that's laughable because you dont make any sense.Happy?

When rogue countries act against international norms and post-1945 conventions they should be called out for it regardless of who they are. 'Making a stand' always has consequences. Should we really be that scared of the US that we simply go along with what they say regardless of the outcome? If the USA were, hypothetically, to launch a nuclear strike against Russia would it be right to go along with it? Sometimes one has to say 'this is where the line is'. There are no indications that this government has any idea that there should be any lines at all. Whatever the US says or does we jump to the tune. No moral fibre on Gaza or Iran at all. Disgraceful.

People who don't like U.S political and military hegemony are going to be in for a nasty shock when/if China take over. And, no, there is no world order option where we are not beholden to one of the superpowers. So pick one.
