I’d say cos we concentrated all our efforts of that window to get him. Took our eye off the ball for everything else though.
My worry is we’ll do the same this summer to get the maximum fee for him and until we do there’ll be nothing much to spend.

 

Probably. Most out of contract players have a number of options when it comes to a new club.

 

We got DKD from Mansfield let’s not get carried away he wouldn’t have been on mega bucks although it was money well spent.

 

It was a gamble for a small club like us .
Looking like paying off.
They all don't work,look at Kane and Benson.
Now that turned out costly, so it's fine margins for lower clubs.

 

Think point he was making was you would have thought others would have wanted to sign DKD too if so, how did we sign him if we can’t compete on wages.

 

And there lies the problem/challenge the club faces, most half proven players come at a cost in the transfer market even in this league, when it’s smaller amounts it’s a calculated gamble and if it doesn’t work out it’s not as harmful but decent money(transfer and/or wages) one not working out hurts.

 

It's easy to sit back and criticise the club.
I wouldn't like to think I was chucking my money into a football club.
There dammed if they do, dammed if they don't.
I'm just grateful it's there money and not mine.
Fair play to them.

 

I’m grateful to them but it’s how they’ve wasted it and put us where we are that grates with me.
Terrible scattergun recruitment over last 3 years or so has killed us to the point now where we’re struggling to compete with most of the clubs in L1.

 

It's not them that as put us in this position in my opinion.
Look what the 2 buffoons did signing the 2 Belgians for a fortune and put them on huge contracts.
That was the big hole that the current board are having to burden with.
Those 2 were the worst thing that as happened to this football club ,and set us back years.
These in charge are treading water not entirely their own fault.

Yes, you’re right about those two. Terrible signings that killed us financially. I still don’t understand how we’re losing £700k a week now under the current board though?

 

To be fair. The majority of club are losing similar figures to this. Footballers wages have simply gone up out of hand. In order to not lose significant money we’d have to put together a team of league two standards players. I’m sure everyone would moan then.

Yes but we have always been careful especially when Patrick was around.
Unfortunately when the likes of Risdale and Conway are around blowing someone else's money then the trouble starts.
