Can't understand why we haven't made an offer then if he's only 12 months left.

In terms of saleable assets It could be suggested that DKD could wind up being our best piece of transfer business ever in terms of outlay vs income but is that down to inflated market costs or because he’s the best player to ever play for the club?

Why would we have an option to buy a left back who only has a year to run on his contract?

The vast majority of the above are dire. We all know that. Does that mean every signing we make in the future will be terrible? Arguement here is, if we keep the same recruitment model and staff we will probably end up with more misses than hits granted.

There are two sides to every coin and my side of the coin dictates that I can’t be upset/annoyed/concerned about:

    • Players I’ve not seen before but fans from another club thinks is crap
    • Transfer business that isn’t close to being concluded yet
That’s merely the point my original post was making.

So this what Biddy was spunking over, a fellow League 1 side loaning us one of their squad players.

I can't wait for the rest of the signings...

If I’m honest i wish the Plymouth fans had just said he’s terrible going forward but is a good solid defender, that would be exactly what we want.

It doesn't mean every player we sign is poor absolutely not, but in answer to the poster sating he couldn't work out our fans I was highlighting that based on the previous transfer business under Mladen, then you can quite clearly understand the anxiousness around another loan signings.
If we obviously rate the lad and he only has 12 months left then perhaps we should have put a bid in fir him, if he isn't going to play at Plymouth then they'll lose him for free.

Strange one as Earl is still in at LB. Gent won't be available so maybe cover but Shepard is a left sided CB so no room for Earl there. Farugia looks injury prone but if fit looks like a Left WB..so can only assume he's replacing Earl..but good luck lad.

He's on loan. If he's ****, we're not lumbered with him.

If he's good, we get a good player for a season at least.

That management team who haven't seen him play yet? Or even had him in for pre season?

Seems an odd one if so - I'm guessing he hasn't settled and wanted a move back up north & they've obliged.

We could do with a natural left back who can defend.

He scored a last minute equaliser against eventually-promoted Sunderland just five months ago...

No idea if he'll be any good for us, but he's played over 100 games at this or the level above, and was one of the highest rated left backs in the division during loan spells with Peterborough (22-23) and Bolton (23-24).

Not sure we're in a position where we'd be expected to find better, at low cost.

Hard to judge much at this stage, as I imagine there's going to be plenty more through the door, and plenty going out.

What is wanted is a forward who can score.

A little underwhelmed on first impression, but there’s just enough to whet the appetite (I hope).

We needed a left-back, and that’s exactly what he is first and foremost. He’s quick—something our back line has been sorely lacking—and he’s got a decent height on him too.

From what I can tell, he’s an attacking full-back and looks, on paper, like a decent fit for the system Conor's been talking up.

He’s got solid experience in this league and has also played at a higher level. Ideally, you’d want someone his age to have over 200 league appearances under their belt, but it’s a competitive market and we need to be sensible with our spending.

I’m not overly fussed that it’s a loan. The squad’s already bloated and needs trimming. One of our key failings last season was not using the loan market properly—something we’ve done really well in successful seasons, particularly 2015/16.

He’s probably not the finished article, but he’s got some strong attributes. With the right coaching, he could prove to be a smart addition.

I know very little about him so can't comment on how it will turn out but our head coach is really excited by the signing so that is all that matters really.
Nice to see Connor being backed.

I assume you don't see Plymouth challenging form promotion

I wonder if we have an option to buy at the end of his loan deal or are we developing him for Plymouths gain, same goes for the keeper, we've brought in.
I ask because, if we are going for promotion and get it, won't it be a more costly operation to rebuild again next summer, let alone all the upheaval that goes with it

Given they've just gone in at Plymouth, they'll have seen him play less than their fans.

Yes, its literally taken them 2 minutes to decide they're happy to release him.
