Newcastle had some decent players scoring that day.

Crowds were poor in general during that period.

I'd love to see a regularly full Oakwell again. I know the club has to give the stay away fans a reason to return but wouldn't it be great to see? What I'm asking for seems like a pipe dream but its almost a given at a lot of other clubs. Its just another very frustrating part of being a Barnsley fan I suppose.

Oakwell has never been regularly full, except for the one Premier League season. In the 50s and 60s it was full for several FA Cup ties, but League attendances were never at that level. We averaged over 15000 in 1981-2, but the capacity then was ca. 38000. It did look well-populated then, however, as the only available seats were in West Upper, and, when the overwhelming majority of fans were standing, we spread out, so there were few obvious large gaps.
