    As a young un I remember the pie and pea van coming round the village every Thursday tea time , they were proper.

    Best I have had was a Doncaster races on a freezing cold November day in 2022. I'd won 2 complimentary tickets. They were a tad expensive as you would expect at a racecourse £5 but boy were they beauties. I never even had a bet.

    The Noted Pie Shop in Richmond does some absolutely fantastic topped pork pies - the best we've ever eaten. And relatively cheap too.

    The pie shop across from Burnden Park the old Bolton ground.Always piping hot and a quarter of the price of pies in the ground.

    I did pay a tenner for a top chefs pie at York races and it was just average, so it's not the price it's what's inside, outside and how it's cooked what counts for me. So my mam's New year eve pie wins for me. Memories of family long gone.

    At a footy match....Dunfermline athletic, mid to late 80s, couldn't wait for half time.
    Now days rustic arms at Ackworth do one with the cavery on Sundays that is a proper treat....yummy.

    Not the best, but my first Chicken Balti pie in Bassett Millenium season at West Brom was outstanding

    Sadly, no pie has ever got close to my Grans meat and potato pie. She used to make it in one of those white enamel dishes with the blue rim. An egg cup up turned in the middle to keep the pastry lifted. Somehow she managed to create this delight from a thick piece of pastry that created a thin crispy outer crust, but then a thick fluffy inner that was so light yet flavourful and as soon as it hit the gravy, sort of dissolved.

    After she died (back in the 80s) my mum had a go. I don't think I've ever forgiven my mum for not knowing the recipe!

    Used to love the pie shop in Wakey after a night out. They opened one on wellington street about 10 years ago but it never really took off and didn't last long.
    Football-wise, I'd have to say Carrow Road 06/07. I think it was the game where we were arseholed by Darren Huckerby and got mullered 5-1.

    A few years ago, to celebrate Burns Night on the regular pie Monday at the Crown & Anchor in Lower Barugh they put a haggis and (I think) bacon pie on the menu. Beautiful!

    Barnsley technical college (the old one ) used to have a tuck shop as well as a cafe and the pies were a thing of beauty.
