Couldn't agree more. Worth everybody remembering there's a young man who sounded pretty ill two years ago...

I expect both, and Connell to go.

I also believe a lot of people underestimate these lads’ talent. It’ll be some magic trick trying to build a new midfield. Your strongest area. All whilst having a porous defence and very little up front. With a new keeper too.

Was always going to be an interesting summer.

It'll be interesting to see if he moves Phillips higher up and wider, but with a remit to float about as he tends to find these positions anyway. As much as I have been probably overly critical of Adam Phillips, he offers more than Connell and would rather see the latter as opposed to the former go if I had to choose

    Agreed.

We can't afford to lose both as that's a lot of goals from midfield to lose in one window.

Russell most likely to go given contract situation I would have thought.

How much higher & wider can Phillips go? He’s just spent a season on the right where he’s not suited. He needs to be back in a midfield 3 making runs from deep.

They aren’t playing the same role though. So you’d ideally retain both. One’s there to hold midfield, get a foot on it and dictate. The other’s there to score and create, further up the pitch.

I’d be beyond amazed if Phillips is here post-window. And by the looks of it, Connell’s got admirers too. As for Russell, he’ll be at the side of a beach asking his agent if there’s anything better out there.

Leaving a trio of Bland, Nwakali and Yoganathan.

So if Luca goes and we have Russell and Phillips in midfield, great if we have got the ball but who’s going to win it/break up play if we haven’t ?

Ifs obvious , Connells replacement if he goes, ffs Connell weren’t exactly doing as you say for last 2 seasons anyway. He stays or goes, I aint fussed tbh because theres others out there as good as hes been last 2 seasons

I think at times last season we tried to crowbar them all in

it is what it is though, and my 41st season ticket will get the same hammer as the previous 40- as will the mount if we go 3-0 down before 60 minutes

I’m actually looking forward to it - it reminds me a bit of the Ritchie/holden season where expectations were low - that’s usually when we’re at our most enjoyable to watch

Defensively we were awful. Starts with the defenders but i didn't think the midfield gave em much help. I have no problem with players leaving and Luca didn't have a great season for whatever reasons in my book. We have always sold our better players. But it seems we have also replaced and recruited well. This is todays issue. We seem to be much less capable of finding players we can afford, that improve our team, help us achieve something and even increase resale value. So lets see if this window is any different to the past 2-3.

I love Luca and would wish him all the best but I think it’s time for him to move on.

if we are offered upwards of a million it will be worth taking it and rebuilding

    same goes for Philips

    we need a fresh start.

Last season many opposition fans mocked us for having ‘the best midfield in the league’. Will be interesting how many players from that are still with us for this season.

Personally, much as I think our defence was an issue and the midfield didn’t offer them enough protection, I think allowing mass departures all at once creates us a different problem with not much time to fix it.

I think Russell most likely to leave, this being the last year of his contract. For Luca keep unless the bid is £2-3M.
