I’m Sure there are countless threads over the years re this. If you’re so bored I suggest you do some trawling through the archives shouldn’t be hard to find
So I've taken your advice and the search function only allows 10 pages of results, it goes back to 2024 when you search for the term 'Thatcher' which might mean lots of people here are pro Thatcher certainly reading some of the posts people still believe Thatchers policies were beneficial to the country which is quiet revealing and surprising.
Scargill fought for the people, Thatcher killed people. Only thing I've ever heard against Scargill is he had a few bob at the end of it all. Which doesn't make sense anyway
Then their must be threads about the same under different titles, because there have been plenty over the years. All I will say on the subject is that history proves that Thatcher was: Wrong A liar Put her vindictive policies before what was best for the country, Etc Etc I’m done now
Cousin Arthur all the way. No such thing as society. She said. She's practically fekked up most of what we had.
Don't forgethto add to the list family owned investments in South African coal that netted her and Dennis a fortune
Just because you think Scargill got it wrong doesn’t make you a Thatcher supporter. I think they were both wrong for different reasons.
Neither. Of course. There was however only one winner. Quite a few of Thatcher's practical benevolences were a bit left of Sir Starmer. Strangely enough. That's why it's always best to be reasonable, and considerate, and fair, and wary of those who try and lead you off the well trodden path of moderation. This wise sage like advice (free from me) is more important then ever, given the collapse of the two party state. Perhaps a decent PR system will now save us, given that Nigel is getting way too popular.
Dunno why you started this thread but for what its worth…Thatcher was a reight cuuntt!!!!, yea Scargill made mistakes but we around here backed him to hilt for a long time. Unless you actually worked in mining industry around here in those days then you will never ever get a grasp of the comrademanship(if thats a word ha) and together ness that it bred. The year long strike will never be repeated these days , which have obviously changed but I for one am proud to have been part of the battle we fought against that cuuntt! Thatcher.
There's a few here, albeit not as direct as Thatcher vs Scargill. The search function on here is really limited, but put the BBS and what you want to search for into Google, and you often find what you need. https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/arthur-scargills-house.225871/ https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/nudgers-opinion-of-margaret-thatcher.188923/ https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/i-cant-wait-for.188180/
