He made appearances due to injuries and it been eos and nothing to play for. If he had broken into the 1st team he wouldn't have signed for us. I agree he has some talent and been unlucky with injuries but was never ready for championship football.
That's exactly it. We can’t be investing the best part of a million on a transfer fee & the wages that come with it on a player who’s never proven his fitness.
Hang on mate, a minute ago you said he’d only played 21s football. Now you are trying to tell me more than I already know. Easy to judge a player in hindsight. He was a highly rated young lad who a number of Champ clubs fancied on loan at the time. Would maybe have made more sense to have done that. Loaned him. But Paul was at the helm that infamous summer so it is what it is. Again, good luck to the kid.
I think you might find he put a massive dent in the bank ballance. Signed for a substantial amount. Didn't get much pitch time out of him. Huge flop imo. What a waste of money.
Almost up there with the mistakes we made when signing the Belgium’s for me, but some look at his injury record and excuse the signing
https://www.rotherhamadvertiser.co....ugal-in-rotherham-united-contract-bid-5210552 Good luck to him. They are going to keep looking at him.
I like Josh Benson but the lad is made of paper. Hopefully like many other players in the past he finds a home where he can stay fit. We’ve had it in the past where we have signed players who have been injury ridden and then they have been absolutely fine at Oakwell. Hopefully it works the other way for him. When he played well in the few games he played, he looked one of the better players on the pitch. There’s definitely a very good footballer in there.
If he'd broke into the 1st team as you say he wouldn't have been sold to us for a few hundred grand simple as that. He did have a few run outs for Burnley who had nothing to play for and down to bare bones with injuries. It was obvious he wasn't ready for championship football and was no replacement for mowatt. He did have a good spell under Duff and I thought he may kick on but injuries cost him. I do agree good luck to him.
How are you still trying to correct me? You said he’d only played 21s. I pointed out that you were wrong, and he’d broken into their first team. The end. Now you’re trying to tell me about his time in the Burnley first team, having previously said he’d not played first team. Get out of town.
I do say good luck to him of course, although he has been awful for us when it comes to injuries. Some Burnley fans I know said when we signed him, that hey if he can stay 100% fit etc!!.
It was just you saying broke into the 1st team asif he had cemented his place when in reality he made 2 starts when they had nothing to play for. I know you've met him personally and he's a nice kid no doubting that. I hope he does well and has a great career but not been good enough for the championship and injuries in league one didn't help his time with us.
Mate, I knew him for four years, it means nothing, I knew Paul Conway longer. And I’ve made no effort to big him up other than wishing him well. I made the mistake of correcting you. Simple as that. If a young lad goes from zero appearances to a handful, I call that breaking into the first team. Which is why I said as much when replying to your post saying he had only played 21s. Let’s call it a day.
