He's making out we are skint, I am shocked to read that.

 

Not necessarily. He might think that, but I read it as the Club were unwilling to match the offers they believed him to have received. Could they afford it? Yes. Did they want to pay it? Obviously not.

He's not on 50K a week at Bradford, so I think it came down to BFC not being willing to pay him whatever it was, not that they couldn't.

 

Humphrys: Give me some more money

Humphreys: I don't want to stay then

Looks like we are trying to get a handle on our costs which is a good thing really it was unsustainable to be losing so much money. Ultimately he’s got 2yrs on more than we wanted to pay for a player who only turns up sporadically. He's used the media to his own advantage here let’s not forget.

 

Not willing to pay a player that Conor saw as a big part? If Koroma happens I would guess they are stumping up.

I mean he's not known for staying at any club for too long and given he spent most of the season giving minimal effort, I don't know why so many fans care what he has to say.

He seems to have got this cult hero status like Norwood which is laughable given that Norwood gave 100% every game no matter what the circumstances.

I'm far more sad that Cotter has gone than I am Humphrys, I'll always take a trier over a lazy player.

Humphrys says he left because of money, my theory is Conor told him his plans to get the squad fitter this season and he thought "f*** that, that's way too much effort for me".

Nobody knows the ins and outs barring the board, Conor and Humphrys. I wouldn't pay him anything over 5K a week considering his form across the whole season. He'll be on 8/9/10K at Bradford (just a guess). The board will have asked themselves the question "will he revert to lazy Humphrys as soon as the ink dries on the contract. He only started playing 6 games from the end of the season.

I get it though, played out of preferred position and all that. But I certainly wouldn't have upped his wages from whatever he was on.

Reading between the lines he appears to have gotten himself a wage rise.

The lads moved on for more money. Can’t blame him. It’s just a job and he has no affiliation with the area.

 

It’s a win, win ,win for the lad. More money, bigger Club, and an ambitious one that’s still moving forward. We’re obviously going to struggle to compete with that.

 

He doesn't seem to stay anywhere for a long time. More clubs than Tiger Woods. Can't say I'm too bothered bar the last 7 games he was poor and lazy.

Question is, if we were unwilling to pay him what he wanted mean we couldn’t afford it, absolutely not. If we have signed Koroma, will he be on less than Humphrys, I wouldn’t expect so.

Precisely. Just because we didn't offer him enough money it doesn't necessarily mean we couldnt afford to.

We may have 10k in the budget but only think he's worth 4k of that. So when he asks for 6k we say no thanks.

On the other hand we are probs skint so fair dos Stevie lad, get that bread.

 

This is why football is f*****.

When folk assume a bang average third division player is picking up four to six grand.

I’m not disputing the figures. Just highlighting why the game has gone and why such as BFC shed tonnes of cash every year.

 

If we had a year in our favour then we could have kept him regardless. We dint so ot shows where we rated him. Gimmee 11 lads who go out and give it their all anytime ..
