We always run the risk when we're always on the penny pinch. And before anyone says "how do you know we are?!" We all know we are. The Club say we're skint...so? We offer players terms that they'll take as a last resort, hence why we end up with a bloated squad of bang average players who would likely rather be elsewhere. Call it what you like, reap what you sow...whatever. We're not ambitious. We don't go out and get who we want and make our mark. We onboard speculative punts, close our eyes and cross our fingers that we stumble across a gem or two. And that's down to weak ownership. Do they want us to fall? No, of course not. Are they brave enough and willing to invest to the required levels to see us legitimately compete at the top of this league? No, I don't see no evidence of that at all. Koroma coming or not will not sway our season one way or the other, what will is the overall outlook and strategy of the Club. And despite Conor's clear and obvious attempts at altering that mindset and outlook, he can only do so much. The guys and gals upstairs making the real decisions aren't willing to do what's required in my opinion. Happy and hopeful to be proven wrong, but I've said that for practically 10 years! And these guys keep trotting out the same BS sound bites every preseason and nothing ever changes...well actually it does....we seem to get progressively worse.
Was told this morning that he has spoken to the club several times in the last few weeks but has also had talks with Rotherham. He wants to stay in the Yorkshire area so still could end up here or anywhere in the region
Yeah, you just know with our admin they like to take the the piss and winde us all up. Think they have some serious growing up to do
With one or two exceptions, the quality of the players we recruit has dropped a lot since Patrick Cryne's time in charge.
When i spoke Mladen the other week he said 4 were incoming and we face competition on one but he expected all 4 to come off. As regards to Luca then the normal and nice people appreciate yr info... True barnsley fans appreciate any knowledge. The jealous keyboard warriors are pathetic attacking people like myself, luca etc...they wouldn't give me abuse in person
Two good signings for Leyton Orient last Friday and Today, El Mizouni and Aaron Connolly, looking to go again after losing some good players.
It’s a much easier move for a player from Millwall to Orient. Doesn’t have to move house, uproot his partner or any children. Maybe he had made it clear he wanted to stay in the South East?
Luca has hit some and missed some, I for one appreciate his input and understand that in business things can suddenly go to pot. keep posting info Luca most of us are grateful.
There's plenty about the club that I'm critical about. But I think we have to be clear what 'ambitious' looks like. How much did Birmingham financially commit to get promoted last year in contracted wages, transfer fees and agents fees? We don't yet know the answer to that, but it's probably between £50-£100m. So what we're asking, without guarantee, is that our owners choose to throw away 5 to 10 times a year more than they currently are in the hope we get promoted. The thing is, you get to the Championship and on arrival you're met with an even bigger box of frogs and you have to throw away even more to stay and 'compete' at that level. Players want this merry go round to continue and get bigger because in the majority they are greedy and mercenary. They can play a couple of seasons and be set for life. That doesn't sit right with me. Sadly, I see no sign of it halting, but it will do at some point, but til that day, I don't want any owner throwing away their money or jeopardising the future of the club.
I just wish the club would get us down to a sensible squad size and focus on quality over quantity, We have signed loads on low wages that haven’t worked one bit so now we have a bloated squad of players that no one wants.
