Have you tried Isle of Wight tomatoes? Not cheap, but spectacularly good.

    Sprouts are my favourite.
I also love runner beans. We grow our own and they're delicious.

Can't beat tomatoes from the Mediterranean. Absolutely full of juice and flavour unlike our northern European counterparts. Greece, Italy, Turkey etc....

The inlaws used to grow huge amounts of runner beans, so every summer we'd have to visit to bring plenty back and eat our body weight in them. So much so, we discovered a very simple tasty dish where we have them in pasta.

Pasta (tagliatelle works well), creme fraiche, runner beans, copious amounts of parmesan and black pepper, a sprinkle of lemon juice and if you feel a bit decadent, roast some prosciutto, let it cool, then break it into small pieces over the top. Delicious.

Completely agree, the tomatoes in Italy are outrageously good... but then most of their produce is much more intense in flavour than what we produce on our shores. We grow our own organic tomatoes (piccolo) and they are decent, but not a patch on ones we've had in Italy.

The problem is they rarely send very much decent to the UK. Tend to keep the best for themselves. Weirdly, the place where I lived with the most consistently excellent tomatoes - St Petersburg. They import them from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and they're absolutely incredible. Easily as good as anything Italy has to offer.

I never think of onion when I think of vegetables but it is far and away my favourite. I absolutely love them. Second choice (and first of what I call ‘proper vegetables’) is cabbage. I could eat mountains of the stuff.
