Quality and women's football is not something that goes hand in hand...... sorry just my opinion.

    For the ones still struggling.
Women were banned from playing. That included me at school. No justifiable reason. Just “it’s for men”.
So yes, the women’s game is miles behind. Always will be.
Now we are catching up. No one is pretending it will be the same spectacle, but as a vehicle to get girls more active it is probably the most effective thing that has happened in sport in the last 30 years.
Except some can’t cope with that and feel the need to drag it down, and ridicule it. Even when England Women won the Euros in front of the biggest crowd at Wembley for an International game it had to be undermined not congratulated.

What is it with people who want to continually undermine people?!!

So sorry (not really sorry) if I’m defensive about women’s football, but it comes from 50 odd years of not being allowed, being allowed but playing on the crap pitches, playing at the best level possible but still being treated as a lesser player, and even when everyone should be cheering on the same thing, being ridiculed. Just a very sad state of our society.

Fine to have that opinion. It’s undermining women’s game that is wrong.

That’s fine until it’s some thing you/ your daughter/ granddaughter cares passionately about. And someone flippantly says something that stops them playing football. It’s crap, It’s pointless, It’s
embarrassing. It’s not as good as the men’s game.
This is multiplied over and over. Girls who actually turn out have battled this already.

    Just wrong.

I'm reckoning you're over reacting in my opinion.
You see, I cared about a few things passionately as a young un. I was what was affectionately termed as a "boff" in the seventies. Ive had flippant and disparaging remarks regarding a few issues in my younger life..... Never gave up! Plodded on and pursued my interests.
Issue this day and age compared to my 'battles' is that I dealt with them as I had to. Flippant remarks etc... the lot!
So you see; something i felt passionately about it pursued. Maybe I'm different as I didn't gave a support group etc.
So.... here we go on the other issue; humour! Just cos some video , or whatever it's called these days, has drawn a bit of mirth, so what? There's loads of gaffs courtesy of the men's game. Huggings! I believe you highlighted one from Loftus Road?
For me personally; i found the video funny, I've seen many with chaps football (for want of a better term) equally amusing.
I get your plight and my mailbox is open, leading to a full on conversation further down the road if you like?
But..... personally for me... I found the video amusing with no chauvanism/misogynist intentions .

I’ve never said the video isn’t funny. I’ve pointed out it’s unhelpful in the context of women’s football - specifically at a time when the sport is being promoted on TV.
I don’t need people to like Women’s football - I don’t care either way. I just don’t want them to ridicule it.And from where i am sitting, that is what is happening - just because it happens to be on tv again.

Just a video of funny gaffs. Labelled women's football because that is what it was, obviously (or so I thought) stated as 'some real quality' as it's the exact opposite. No slight on the women's game in general, as I said I do watch it (and have posted about the games on here).

I'll change the thread title to include gaffs or bloopers (if I can) so it doesn't seem so much of a direct píss take (point taken on that).

But I stand by that the gaffs in it are funny.

Stop trying to walk it back and pretend you weren’t being an absolute ****. Everyone knows what you were intending with the thread title, trying to play innocent now makes you just look even more of a ****.

Also “a video of funnies” how old are you ffs.

How on earth is 'a video of funnies' immature?

I'll leave the rest of your post, not worth my time.

My take on it is that I don’t believe for one minute that @RichK meant to ridicule women playing football and to be fair it did make me chuckle just as I would have if it had been a video of men’s gaffs however what I will say is that the women’s game as come on leaps and bounds, some of the quality of play and goals that’s scored now is unbelievable, the pass from our keeper for the first goal against the Netherlands was sublime. I do think with regards women’s football there’s still a sexist view from some quarters, hopefully as time goes on that will die out, I mean that in a general sense and not folk on here,
I’ve enjoyed more of the women’s game of late than the men’s, no pathetic rolling around feigning injury or petulant behaviour, it’s a breath of fresh air.
