True P..try to catch the T20 Yorks v Lancs at Headingley on Thursday..I'll be pssd after a visit to Fat hippo and Original Oak...plus a few int ground..
West Indies demise is adorable. They've got the Aussies out for some respectable totals but just crumble in the chase. 2 days to get 200 for victory they fell to 11-6 today.
All out for 27. second lowest test total by any test nation in history. Anyone remember the feared West Indies if the 70s 80s and 90s? What have they now become.
Off the top of my head I have picked a West Indies 11 who have played during my lifetime Greenidge Haynes Lara Richards Lloyd Gayle Dujon Walsh Ambrose Marshall Garner Imagine that peak 11 against any team these days. And that's not including the likes of Michael Holding Andy Roberts Shivnarine Chanderpaul Richie Richardson or Carl Hooper btw.
Still not worried about Australia. This winter is the best chance in any of our lifetimes to do well there. Australia have really struggled for runs in all three tests against a poor West Indies. They persist with the overhyped Sam Konstas who is a walking wicket. Their amazing pace attack need really managing as they aren't getting any younger and injuries catch up with them. Their back up seamer is Boland who's old himself. They like to play limited overs guys in the longer format like Josh Inglis, Beau Webster and Travis Head. They have no new talent coming through. They tried to hype up Jake Fraser Mcgurk and it didn't work out. They have big question marks over their top order. At this moment a combined 11 of both expected 1st test line ups we would have more players in it. We just need to wrap our brittle bowlers like Archer, Stokes, Wood and Atkinson in cotton wool.
Jesus you really do know FA about anything do you. have you ever thought of keeping your head down and not making outrageous comments, unless you are just fishing, which you seem to like to do. In which case why don’t you find another site to do it on???
What a weirdo you are. If you're going to quote me at least be grown up about it and say what you don't agree with. Let's start with my first point. For the past however many decades dominant Australian teams have all been better than the current one. It's the weakest Australia team for 40+ years at least.
Hey yeah this has been a really great test series hasn't it, against an admittedly good India team. And for me, it just shows what a pile of garbage T20 cricket is!. Long live the proper cricket Test and County matches ehh.
Australia have a couple of world class batters who haven’t been performing for various reasons but they’ll be back the blighters ! They have bowlers who will get picked until they under perform and not when they reach a certain age like we experienced with Anderson.
First test match I ever saw live England v West Indies at Headingly 1976 What a side that was. Greenidge and Fredericks opening Followed by Richards and Lloyd. Roberts and Holding opening the bowling followed by Daniel and Holder I dont know how you can pick a WI side without Roberts and Holding - but who would you leave out of your side to put them in
We stay on the farm overlooking the golf course ,so a good sea view when it's not raining. We often go in the plough in the beer (yard) garden, for a couple as its a right sun trap. Checking the scores on the fone, often come out cabbaged after 4 pints. The chinese on the right as your walking towards the golf club ,doesn't look enticing from the outside. However it's one of the best chinese takeaways I've had. Enjoy your time there.
I will go through both teams from the current two test series on each number in the order. Crawley or Khawaja. Khawaja will turn 39 during the Ashes. In his 4 recent tests (WTC and 3 vs WI) he's scored 123 runs in 8 innings. Crawley in the 3 tests has scored 128 runs in 6 innings. If you want his last 4 tests you can add his 124 against Zimbabwe who are of similar level to West Indies. Both are out of form and could lose their spot, but Crawley would get my nod in a combined 11. Duckett over Konstas. Pope has two centuries and a 44 in his last four games. Cameron Green has one half century in his last four tests. Based on form again I would pick Pope. Root over Smith. Brook over Head. Stokes over Webster. Smith over Carey. Cummings over Woakes. Starc over Carse. Archer over Boland. Hazlewood over Bashir. So I make that 8-3 to us. They will have Lyon back in for Boland for the Ashes and he's better than Bashir as like for like with spinners. Scott Boland as back up seamer is 36 now. Starc is 35. Cummings 32. Hazlewood is 34. Lyon turns 38 during the series. There is no denying their bowling attack is amazing, but they are all a few years nearer retirement than last time. It's quite believable that only Cummings stands a chance of playing another home Ashes series in the future. Many will be playing with nerves that it's their last chance and all have had injury issues. I can't see Starc/Cummings/Hazlewood/Lyon being their attack for all 5 tests, not a chance. They will have to be rotated even if they don't pick up knocks (which they will). I look forward to this and my previous post being ridiculed when we lose 5-0 and not mentioned again by anyone when we win 5-0 For the record at the moment I would say 3-2 to us or 3-1 with a draw.
I can just about remember seeing Wes Hall and Charlie Griffiths… they weren’t prolific or even accurate bowlers but seemed fast and frightening.
