Barnsley Football Club are pleased to announce additions to our U21s squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

A number of new Reds have arrived this summer to bolster our U21 squad.

Aston Ellard, Ben Jordison, Kingston Simbai and Nathan Willis have arrived at Oakwell, as well as contract extensions for existing Reds Bayley McCann, Ziggy Kozluk, Aaron Atkinson, Luke Alker and Tom Senior.

Ellard is a wide player who joins the Reds from the youth setup of Coventry City. The 19-year-old has previously spent time on the books of Brentford and Watford.

Defender, Jordison joins the ranks from Burnley, along with Kingston Simbai, who also joins the backline from Norwich City.

Willis, a midfielder, has been part of the first team squad in pre-season matches. He joins from Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Existing young Reds have extended their stay at Oakwell and will link up with the U21s ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Bayley McCann featured in the first team for Barnsley last season. He made his EFL league debut and started in the EFL Trophy.

The defender also enjoyed a successful loan spell with National League North side Peterborough Sports last term.

Ziggy Kozluk, like McCann, has featured in the senior setup during last year's EFL Trophy. The full-back played a large part in the U21s campaign during 2024/25.

Kozluk is a familiar name to the Club, with his dad, Rob, having played over 70 matches for the Reds.

Kieran Graham pens a new deal and will continue his development with the Reds after featuring heavily during the 2025/26 pre-season under Conor Hourihane.

Graham made his senior debut in our final game of the 2024/25 season away to Reading in a 4-2 victory against the Royals.

Attacker Aaron Atkinson looks to build on his involvement in the Professional Development League and appearance in the EFL Trophy in 2023/24.

Alker made his debut in the EFL Trophy in October 2024 against Huddersfield Town.

Local lad Senior has featured in pre-season as a towering, young centre-half for the Reds.

Barnsley Football Club would like to congratulate all of our young Reds on signing for the Club and to those with new contracts, we wish them the best of luck.

How about some additions to the first team squad?

Several months ago we announced to the world we would be playing with a high press, a back 4, and wingers. Not only did that give all our opponents the heads up on our tactics for the coming season, and ample time to prepare, but it never occurred to anyone that we didn't have any full backs for the back 4, or any wingers, or anyone who can play a high press.

Never mind, a full summer to recruit for the new season. But with just over two weeks until kick off, we're still almost entirely bereft of wingers and fullbacks, and to execute the high press we signed a pensioner.

Maybe it was a massive ruse and we're actually going to play 5 centre halves and 5 central midfield players in a Jenga formation, stacked between our posts, in which case, well done, you fannied us all, but I don't think it will work.

But just in case you were serious with the formation and tactics you announced you would play, how about addressing the issue you've no one in the squad capable of playing it.

Times have changed mate. Greed League hoovers up all the talent and pays a pittance for it, having blackmailed the EFL into allowing em to do it.
