They’re welcome to him after the way he’s dealt with us. Hope he gets the warm welcome to Oakwell he deserves.
As Jay has outlined, only the club can offer or change a contract. The players can demand something, but only the club can put it into contract. I wonder if deals are done by Sormaz/Flatman but need a final sign off from above given our financial position? I can't see why our operational execs would agree to a deal and then suddenly try and undo it to something more in the clubs favour. I know we have a collective dim view of out Sporting Director, but surely this has to have others fingerprints on it, at least in part.
It's also just a story in the Yorkshire Post. While I don't believe there's any ambiguity in what the Yorkshire Post have written, what they've written isn't necessarily correct. There's no source quoted anywhere in the piece. We've been provided information, but I neither believe it nor disbelieve it. I remain not knowing what happened.
It doesn’t mention a contract though it says fundamental changes to the deal, both sides can request them
You're right, it does say deal. To me, it still feels like its worded (though not well, hence differences of opinion) that we've been involved in changes. And as touched on before, it's beyond ridiculous we seemingly did all the media, medical etc but sort of forgot about that pen and ink bit. I'm not sure either party come out of it particularly well.
We’ll probably never know for sure, but not reading too much into the wording. Out of interest do we know if it’s common for a player to do media before signing the contract?
Not an expert but I can see a scenario where it could be. Negotiations back and forth Agree terms Whilst contract is being drawn up (actually written and checked) do media to save time. etc.
@YT addressed that point the other day and said he'd never known such a situation when he was at the club.
We've just drawn with Rangers. The Muppets in charge thinks we are European level....... I wish I was joking
Yep, we're good at talking the talk but not a lot seems to change whoever the head coach is, despite what we're told.
My first ever 1st team game was a defeat to Leyton Orient last game of 58/59 season resulting in relegation and the last game I saw at Oakwell was against Orient last season. I've thought ever since how ironic 1st and last games against same team 66 years apart
