Moronic behaviour but there’s folk getting less for sex offences and noncing…….its still not right but our justice system is broken. There’s been knife carrying sentences that have been less than that

It's not harsh enough Jay. The only fitting punishment is for them to be fücked and eaten.

It wasn’t just a tree, it was history, symbolism, joy, memories and pride.

And damaged a UNESCO world heritage site in the process.

We’ve no chance as a species have we? Trees, air, water, soil… all can be destroyed for idiocy or profit and too many don’t care.

They should have received 2 years each for the lies they told on top of their sentence, the 4years 3months should be fully served...it might send out a message to the others that comitt mindless Vandalism.
Especially at their age, they should be setting examples for the younger generation.
Total knob heads the pair of them. Plus the crown should now be chasing them for expenses

“Just a tree” according to some people on here. Ten years each is what they should have got. Sentencing is far too lenient these days

I’d have put them on a small boat and floated them out to the Isle of Man.

There's not many trees on the IoM as it is.

Is not saying just a tree, (iconic in the sense) on a heritage site, is on the same lines as saying a listed building is just a pile of bricks.?
Just cos I've not heard of most of em doesn't mean I don't have an issue.

The Sycamore Gap tree or Robin Hood tree was a 150-year-old sycamore tree next to Hadrian's Wall near Crag Lough in Northumberland, England. It was illegally felled in 2023, but has since sprouted from the stump. Standing in a dramatic dip in the landscape created by glacial meltwater, it was one of the country's most photographed trees and an emblem for the North East of England. It derived its alternative name from featuring in a prominent scene in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. The tree won the 2016 England Tree of the Year award

If they didn’t like the tree maybe cutting it down was the best option. If they had posted something on social media and upset the tree things could have been worse.
